- Stressed out? -- Ally and Nic, 15:17:40 11/12/09 Thu
Of course you are, it's Oireachtas time! GOOD LUCK to all dancers competing at upcoming Oireachtasi, and all dance parents currently having anxiety attacks ;)
Would some free stuff help? Just tell us what's stressing you out over at our Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Heart-That-Dance/9887371055
TWO gift certificates of $25 will be awarded, one by random draw and one for the best answer, as determined by how much it makes us giggle. We'll do the draw on November 20th, so folks can use their winnings for Christmas presents if they like.
And yes, the gift certificates are for the shop (http://www.iheartthatdance.com) and not for Starbucks or the liquor store, sorry. I'll see what I can do for next year, LOL.

- After many years with Rutherfords, dd has decided to try Fay's (older dancer commented that Rutherfords look too bulky and boot-like). She wears the super flexi soundblaster tips-what would be the most similar product at Fay's? I know they are a slimmer shoe which is fine as dd has slim foot. -- Thanks, 05:02:12 11/11/09 Wed

- my dd just switched from Rutherfords to Fays this weekend too. She has a wide foot. These Fays look much better than the Rutherfords, which she had bought just a few months ago. Full grown foot. Rutherfords tips wore down + foot looked sloppy. Fays look terrific. they are almost broken in already - she'll be able to feis in them this weekend. (NT) -- Sorry receipt doesn't say which she bought + she has them at school w/her., 07:19:46 11/11/09 Wed

- The black suede soles are most similar to the Fay's black suede sole. Fay's has the grey suede sole but I think those are a bit stiffer than the black, just the rumor I've heard. As for tips, I think Fay's tips are Fay's tips, the sounds is good, so it's not a terrible trade, but I personally think that soundblaster tips have the best sound. - Top 10 Reasons I didn't Recall At Oireachtas – MARO version Just for Fun -- idea borrowed from the NE MB, 04:17:15 11/08/09 Sun
10. I was distracted by the other dancers TC trying to land a plane in the Ballroom.
9. I had the wrong BN dress in the wrong color
8. My dance partner blocked the judge’s view of my dancing.
7. The scores were mixed up with another dancer’s, I was robbed.
6. One of the judges tanked me because they hate my TC
5. The stage was too slippery, sticky, too high, too small, too big
4. I had to dance 3 @ a time
3. I am not the TC’s favorite so I didn’t get enough practice in class
2. I had to dance with a World Qualifier
1. I didn’t recall because of politics, that’s what my mother told me.

- We weren`t there this year, but we have been there in past years. Every year there seems to be some issue. Almost every year there are complaints about the venue. (NT) -- Some schools NEVER get complaints, 23:30:03 11/08/09 Sun
- We have become a society where we want things instantly and when we don't get it, we complain. Sometimes, things just take time. You have a choice to part of the problem or part of the solution. If you can do better, then start your own company and take it on. Otherwise, lets remember that we are all human beings and do the best we can. (NT) -- Mom, 04:02:25 11/09/09 Mon
- I don't think anyone expected Instantly. 60 min. , 90 min. no one would complain. (NT) -- THREE HOURS unacceptable, and yes a bit unfair., 04:51:44 11/09/09 Mon
- Okay, so we've all become spoiled by technology. But we forget that it is one person entering all of those marks by all of those ADs, sheesh! Fingers can only go so fast. I can remember results at the end of the day, done with adding machines and calculators - that was the best technolgy then, but it was still fingers doing the work. - Congrats to all in this age group. Whether in Open or Prelim, this has been one, tough group since U9 days. There are some terrific dancers in this age group. Some find success at Open level and at majors, but some don't; this does not diminish any one of these dancers - they are all that good. (NT) -- love watching this group, 17:25:57 11/09/09 Mon

Just got my marks emailed from the Coyle feis. As a novice dancer, it is so helpful to receive comments! Question though: who was the judge on stage 5? Never got so many comments before! A big thank you to him!

- Feis \ Soccer -- Brian, 09:14:04 11/09/09 Mon
If you had to choose from a soccer game or a feis what would you choose? Or do you think you can make both?

- Instinctively, I'd say the feis, but if you're talking about a kid either dancing or playing soccer, then I'd have to reluctantly go with the soccer game as a player owes it to the team to be there. Of course, if the dcr is doing a ceili at the feis (NT) -- I'm lost, 09:23:35 11/09/09 Mon
- I was JUST discussing this topic with friends at the feis yesterday. My son has soccer/feis this coming saturday and will make the decision when the schedule comes out. Have done both in one day before and it's worked out just fine. All depends on schedule. (NT) -- Hope it works out for you. -Anne, 09:34:29 11/09/09 Mon
- Feis First. But, this fall we have been able to do both on two occasions. Wasn't too much, in fact, was empowering to dd. On both occasions we had no time stress, it just happened to work out easily on both days. (NT) -- go for it, 09:36:06 11/09/09 Mon
- Soccer first - team commitment supercedes individual activity (NT) -- Mom of oc dancer, 09:46:45 11/09/09 Mon
- In our family, we discussed in advance and set the priorities first - decision was made, with dd's input, that ID trumps soccer. That said, we try to do both when we can. E.g. we had soccer gear, as well as dance gear at the Coyle feis yesterday, on the off-chance that we would finish in time to drive back... We did not. (NT) -- Prioritizer Mom, 09:50:39 11/09/09 Mon
- Soccer, a commitment to a team is more important than an individual activity, that's why we had to make a choice this year and drop the team activities, it's not fair to the rest of the team (NT) -- common sense to me, 09:58:46 11/09/09 Mon
- Completely agree, Soccer is a team sport and if you took the spot of someone else than I feel the committment should be to the team, not the individual (NT) -- for what it's worth, 10:08:36 11/09/09 Mon
- we would look at the schedule and try to do both I know many families struggle with this but would chose the team event first before solos (NT) -- soccer/dance mom, 10:10:38 11/09/09 Mon
- my DDs play travel soccer as well as ID and its sometimes tough to balance both, but since soccer is a team sport and the level of play at the travel level is high, soccer trumps dance for us. Sometimes we have done both and it happens to work well. I wouldnt try to squeeze both in, though, very stressful. (NT) -- good luck!, 13:51:04 11/09/09 Mon
- We changed soccer leagues to accomodate dd dance schedule, to limit conflicts. Have done both on same day several times. But takes a ribbing for showing up to soccer in full (NT) -- makeup, 16:51:28 11/09/09 Mon
- We do basketball. varsity and oc/wq. Long talk with bb coach who understands the double commitment (thankfully) and is very accomodating. bball team usually division finalist, dd is guard/utility player. Coach appreciates that dd is in top shape, better than most of his other players (NT) -- it can work with sports, 17:15:48 11/09/09 Mon

Hi everyone, I am doing college research on Irish immigration to the United States in the last twenty years. I am collecting data right now and have created an online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=C8JgDls1EbymPIGYQuFQ3A_3d_3d If you immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in the last twenty years I would greatly appreciate your taking my survey as it provides invaluable information for the study. As well I'd greatly appreciate it if you could pass this survey along to anyone else. Thank you.
