Subject: Congrats to OSC for a fab feis yesterday!! On time comps, nice sashes and fantastic music! The only negative (which isn’t their fault) was the lazy judge who gave no comments. If you’re going to sit all day judging open and prelim dancers - so least give them some feedback. Heard of many comps from the start of the day to the end complain of the same thing. Again not the fault of OSC - otherwise an amazing feis!!

Judges are not your coaches, they are there to judge the competitions & that is what they get paid for. Americans are the only judges who write comments & I'm suremthose comments reflect the comments your teacher gives you at class. listen to your teachers critique in class, after all that is what youraying her for.

Raise your hand if you ever got the following comments:

adj. 1 : Great timing!!

adj. 2: timing excellent

adj 3: watch timing (placed low).

Sigh. Has happened more than once.

[> Subject: I don’t look for comments in terms of coaching, I look for them to attempt to see the “why” behind the placements. It’s a subjective sport, so it’s helpful to understand why a judge issued a particular score.
