[> Subject: I don't necessarily disagree with you that Fall feising does not look good. However, I wouldn't base that on the fact that the marathon was cancelled. When the mayor announced it was cancelled he mentioned specifically the fact that it draws hundreds of thousands of people. There is no feis in the world that draws that many people.

[> [> Subject: Agreed. There is no correlation whatsoever between the Boston Marathon and local feising. The City of Boston, due to population density and the number of people drawn into the city, has to be a lot more cautious than smaller events in less dense areas do.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Have you been to the feis at the ICC? I don't disagree with the idea, but in reality that feis is PACKED under the tents, people are squeezed in with barely enough room to walk around one another. Same inside for champs. They'd have to cap it at probably 50% their usual number, which would probably make it not cost-effective

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: I see what you are saying, but I am thinking of the huge field where concerts usually are - not the one next to the pub. I also don't think you'd have to cap - esp if you controlled the audience of each event - say one parent per dancer. Anyway - just trying to think outside the box, and hoping it sprurs some viable ideas. :)

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Many feiseanna were barely over the break-even point before the pandemic. With all the restrictions and safety measures being proposed I doubt anyone would be foolhardy enough to try to host one until the pandemic is behind us. Lots of work, very little return, lots of grief from ungrateful feis parents. And that's just how it was before the pandemic. I can't imagine what it would be like now.

in different regions. Southern, Western, etc. With modifications, some restrictions, but it's better to think outside the box and make those changes and get on with life, than stay paralyzed (not a judgment on any comments here - it's just how I feel!)

Let's keep dancing, we can make this work.

It won't take much to shut them down.

I'm not trying to be negative... just realistic. If the virus flares up, then things like feises will be the first to get shut down.

It is a big risk, at this point, for schools to go ahead with them. I must admit, that if it was my bank account paying for the awards, etc...I would be thinking really hard about going forward on anything scheduled in 2020.

I hope it works out for the organizers.. maybe they can order awards etc with that in mind (no year printed on awards, etc). Good luck everyone, I hope you stay safe, and get to dance (if both can happen simultaneously).

They're in New Mexico - and they're competing, but donating award money to a charity. Great idea. Thinking outside the box. I know another double feis (southern region) that is running, and also not doing an awards presentation - but you can pick up your award (like in grades). Again, thinking outside the box. Both feisanna are capping at lower numbers.

If we can go to Target, we should be able to go to a smaller feis, with a few modifications thrown in.

Let's keep moving forward people.

They have in place a plan to keep things as safe as possible, from their FB and instagram. LOVE seeing this happen. Smart and safe. Good luck to those going!
