make up your own steps and compete with them. As you can imagine, the dancing tends to be of a considerably lower standard than that of CLRG. I've seen competitions of OP champs and I would put them at the level of CLRG's prizewinners or new prelims. I'm sure there are exceptions but that was the impression of those of us who watched.

However CLRG does not allow it's dancers to compete Open Platform and there are penalties I believe.
