Subject: Sure - it's none of anyone's business and each parent makes their own decision. But when most are making sacrifices for the sake of others and public health and asking their kids to do the same, the fact that a few New England schools continue to send dancers all over the countryside every weekend and then splash it all over Instagram and FB will raise some eyebrows.

In reply to: myob 's message, "It's really none of your business, but yes, dancers have the option to do remote (when attending feiseanna outside NE) or in person (once they have quarantined). Our TC's take safety very seriously and to come on here and assume anything else is crazy" on 05:35:26 11/24/20 Tue

Didn't travel, but could easily quarantine in my house

I think this is where people differ philosophically- many people think that if they stay within the rules, it is ok to travel- and that is understandable.

I also think it's important to be really specific about what a real quarantine looks like- it doesn't include dance classes or 1:1 privates or even trips out to get essentials if you are really doing it right. Some states can test out - that fits the rule book, but doesn't really speak to the timeline of this virus.

The bigger question is whether traveling at all is a good public health choice during the pandemic.

My family is saying no to travel at this point, even if we could meet quarantine/testing requirements upon our return to our home state. Others are coming at it differently- and so they travel.

I don't fault those that travel. As long as they follow the rules of their state, it's fine with me.

But... I do think this kind of non-essential travel may lead to stronger restrictions down the road, and as a parent that is really looking forward to a potential major in the summer, I might be inclined to side eye some of these schools (not just Kenny by the way) if it turns out majors are shelved due to exponentially increasing numbers.
