Subject: Online Feis questions

Are the entries restricted to NE or is it open to all regions? Are there normally caps on online feises just like in real life feises?

Do you tape in the studio or at home?

Do you get judges comments at the end of it?

I do think it is great that NE England is offering a virtual feis opportunity. It will be very meaningful for the dancers looking to move levels. Wondering though how many OC dancers will take advantage. For my DD, part of her feis experience is seeing her dance friends from across NE England. The competition in her mind only matters for O, NAIDC, World's etc. local feis for her is more social. Although she will feis when needing feedback on new steps / set. I suppose virtual feis could be helpful in that area. Wondering how your OC dancers feel about virtual feis. Mine as of last night not really interested :(

[> [> [> Subject: My dd is also more interested in the in-person exp but we will take whatever is offered at this point. Would love to see this platform have its kinks worked out so that majors (if unable to take place in person) are ready to go online if needed. Would hate another year without O, Nans, and World.

some kids have been able to feis in person this year- she's not one of them- very happy to have an option, even if it's online, to compete.

[> [> [> [> Subject: My OC dd is not interested in on-line. She feels that not everyone will be on the same playing field with regards to the venue used for filming. We certainly don't have the space to film an the halls used for classes are rented only for class time and are not available on off times to use for filming. She will patiently wait for in-person to come back, whenever that may be.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Exactly. And mid-atlantic has 5 in person planned, Feis all over the country EXCEPT NE in the next three months. Makes no sense. Meanwhile,TONS of other indoor sports happening but not individual dance with safety precauctions, social distancing, etc? Baffling.

It's confusing why we are the only region who hasn't feised in almost a year and counting with nothing on the calendar...but if by fall the only way to get oirechtas is online, so be it...

Personally, I would not want to shell out the deposit for a venue, money for awards, etc. and then have to cancel the feis. Also, it's very difficult to find a venue willing to have an event in New England at the moment.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: I think you may be a little confused. If you look above you'll see my Boston Marathon comment was in reply to someone who said they were hoping they could feis in NE this Spring. Neither of us mentioned NANS, Worlds, or anything other than NE feising and a local marathon. Has absolutely nothing to do with people from other continents.
