What are people's thoughts on NANS happening

I would assume you’d have the same judges to be fair and at that point it can’t be a one day event. You’d also have kids placing and qualifying based on video and then people at the live event might feel uneasy since some like to see everyone dance... I’d love something to be worked out that everyone would be happy with.

[> [> [> Subject: I would be ok with that - but to let the Powers That Be in New England think that an online Feis & con't of that platform will suffice and pacify NE parents while the rest of the country is in person feising is short-sighted. If they are so afraid of "lawsuits" etc then maybe it's time to give up and let Mid Atlantic take over & we can be one larger region...

[> [> [> [> Subject: It's not the NE region prohibiting feiseanna, it's venues for feiseanna that have tight regulations that do not allow for those types of events. Schools don't allow full classes of students to attend, why would they allow a feis to take place. Opens up so much liability to the school that would have to sanitize the building after feis left. Same issue with event halls, hotels. They have restrictions that prohibit these events at the moment. Be patient, it will get better eventually.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Hilarious! You win for single dumbest post on the internet today! As others have tried to explain to you, the region is not preventing any school from hosting a feis. So, "enough already", why don't you tell your school to lead the way by hosting the first one? Put your money and your time where your mouth is!

[> Subject: Judging online submissions against in person dancing wouldn’t be great. When recording you have multiple times to get something right. In person you have to that one chance. I think if they were judged separately that might work but definitely not together. As another post mentioned the NE region is not preventing anyone from having an in person feis. It is just difficult to find a good space and plan with precautions. Any school can plan one though.

Our school participated in the online school and we treated it like a real feis. One chance to record. YOu only got to redo it if it was a technical issue

-DESE, back in August, said dance comps may be allowed winter 2020-21 with start date "TBA". They still haven't updated those.
-Indoor capacity still limited to 25 people.
-indoor large capacity theaters closed until phase IV, which we haven't launched yet.
