Subject: There's lots to see and do in Newport! There are many hotel options so it depends on your budget and hotel room availability. I like The Viking, but it's a splurge, as is the Ocean Cliff hotel. The Marriott on Goat Island is nice too. See inside for things to do and dining recs.

Things to do:

- There are lots of great shops along Thames St.
The Newport Mansion tours are great. My particular favorite is the Servants Tour offered at The Elms.

- Salve Regina Univ is lovely with Gilded Age mansions on the campus.

- The Cliff Walk is one of my favorite places to be. A section of it collapsed this Spring so part of it is closed but you can still walk other parts, or just walk on the beaches.

- I like to occasionally take a sunset sail. They're fun and offer champagne to toast the setting sun. I'll find the name of the one we loved recently and will post again.

Dining options:

There are tons of restaurants, so it depends on what you like.
- Diego's is great for casual Mexican dining, and has the best guacamole east of California.

- Perro Salado for a more upscale and maybe more authentic Mexican meal.

- The Brick Alley pub is popular; it's got a little bit of everything and is always packed.

- Benjamin's is great for seafood.

Looks like The Wren sunset sail is BYOB; we had champagne the times I went but it was probably supplied by my friend and I didn't realize it. It's a truly lovely way to watch the sun set. Here's the link for reservations.
