In addition, perhaps others have realized that chasing placements weekend after weekend is not a good choice for their family, so they feis once a month instead of hitting every feis. Prices are up everywhere, which is mirrored in the feis prices - gas prices are still rather high and maybe those $100 feis weekends (fee only- doesn't include gas/snacks/etc) are out of reach for many that want to feis.
