Champ dancer, really want to continue competitive dancing in college, but need something easy to get to from BC. I am not from the area. I see the Sullivan school online. Is this a good school? Competitive? Or is there a closer option (or farther but easier to get to by T? Thanks!

Author:
Frustrated
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 05:09:53 07/06/17 Thu

Just bought our first dress from a BNDM. The process was easy until we got the dress. We measured multiple times with pictures. We got the dress. It won't zip. Arm holes are so small that her arms barely fit into the sleeves, bust is so tight it might rip and the back of the skirt is so short and tight that it sticks out in the back. BNDM told us to take it to a seamstress to have it altered. We've been to several seamstresses and tailors who specialize in Irish dance dresses who all say that it can't be let out enough to wear. The arm holes and skirt are a huge problem and there isn't enough fabric to let it out.

I've tried over the past month to reach the BNDM who during the process was responsive, but now won't return an email. They are posting on FB, so I know someone is there. The tailors/seamstresses insisted that I should get them to take the dress back and make a new one or refund my money, but they won't respond to me at all. I'm afraid I'm out thousands of dollars with no way to resolve it. If I send it back without them agreeing to anything, I might be out the money and without a dress that I could sell. What do I do?

I know comments were made that we have "too many" schools down here but I for one am excited. I remember the days when there weren't many options at all down here. Even still, there are certain sections of this region that it's a hike to any studio so depending on where a school expands this could be great. One of the most Irish areas of the world, plenty of Irish dancers to go around. While some seem to focus on more schools as competition, I look forward to even more opportunities for families to find the school that best fits what they want out of Irish dance.

I know this may sound like a crazy question. I apoloagize in advance. I heard that the NEw England O's may be changing they way they are doing it this year in regards to ceiling and solos. I heard they are going to try to do it like the mid Atlantic area. Now I have no idea how they do it there.

Does anyone have any information on this? Or any insight? I know its early I am just trying to plan ahead as I am trying to arrange for family to come from overseas to visit and they will come to it. So trying to book flights now before they become too expensive.

Any insight or ideas is greatly appreciate.
Thank you so much for all your help

Over $300 worth of crystals just added in April, so it has great stage presence. Would fit a tall, slim dance, worn by a 5'6" dancer right nowr. Room to be let out if needed.
