Subject Author Date At our school each dancer (or her family) buys the team dress if you wish to enter ceili comps at a feis or oireachtas. Sometimes the teacher will arrange to have one loaned to a dancer to allow them to dance a ceili, but this is only for certain special dancers. We were often asked to loan a dress, but one was never offered to us when we were between dresses. (NT) anon-a-mom 19:38:58 07/23/08 Wed Same here. Had to purchase a new dress when my dd started teams. $750. DD had major growth spurt, so new dress I purchased didn't fit following year. I was told to give the 1 year old dress to another dancer, that it fit, and my dd got stuck with a school dress that was at least 3 years old that another dancer out grew - not much I could do as O was a month away and dd was part of several teams. Cost me $750, DD gets 1 year out of it, and then my dd stuck with 3 year old dress that several other dancers had worn before her. I honestly felt I should have had some monetary compensation, after all I paid a lot of money for a brand new dress that my dd only wore a few times that year (O and dance-outs), as she competed in her solo dress. So not fair!!
