-Hello, my name is Karen. I am 40 yrs. old I am single and I have hep c. I have been on interferon shots and rebetron pills for one month now. I found out my pos. status two days after Sept. 11th. I was recently single then and had just got my own apt on sept. 1, 2001. Needless to say, my world fell apart. The new one I was trying to create. I feel doomed to being all alone now because of this virus that I contracted during an operation in 1983. I know noone with the virus. I am on an experimental approved for testing super strength interferon and pills. I am sick with fever and pain for 6 out of the 7 days. I live alone. I am all alone thru this. Family lives far away and friends seemed to have scattered from my life because of this. Is there life after hep c? Please write, thanks, Karen

Hi Ladies and Gents,
My girlfriend of almost 7 years finally left me. We have had problems and issues all during treatment, but I at least thought she would stay with me until I finished. I just did shot 38 tonight.
Angry & sad sum up my feelings pretty well. I'm glad I have the Ativan to help keep me calm. It's not like I wasn't expecting it. It's just the abruptness of it. And "she still wants us to be friends if we can" crap. Well, as far as I'm concerned friends like her I don't need.
I found out today she is sleeping with someone else.
Anyway, I AM ANGRY, but I want to move on with my life and enjoy the years I hope I have added by doing treatment.

If any lonely ladies out there would like to keep in touch, maybe we can help each other through this dragon fight. It hasn't been too bad for me.
I coped with sides pretty well and am undetected and would be feeling on top of the world except for the realization that the person I have loved and shared life with for the past 7 years is no longer going to be a part of my life.

So if anyone would care to write me, I could use a little friendship and cheering up.
Take care all. Happy Friday and God Bless.
~Mark

I am a Christian single male,50 years of wisdom, father of 3 teenagers, heck of a straight forward guy, and what I am telling all of you with the hep c virus, there are 100% natural glyconutritional products that will dramatically reduce or eliminate the symptons that most people have.Just about everyone that tries the treatments that are offered by the medical profession do not improve, anf the side effects are terrible. There is a lot of testimony from those that have and are still taking these products (myself,my brother, and many local people in my area)Trust me friends, if you want to co-exist in a healthy way with this virus, I know of that way. Hi

I'm a single guy living in the North West of England. Looking for someone to talk to really in the UK. I was diagnosed with Hep c three years ago, and not spoken a word about it to anyone other than the doc and my ex. Don't know anyone else who has it - though I'm sure there are others in my region of the UK with the same problems. I live a fairlly normal life, work for myself, in the media, for long hours, and feel like a woman occassionally (what normal man wouldn't), but I feel guilty about getting involved with someone and have to explain to them about Hep C - for the fear of being rejected I suppose. so if there's anyone out there from the UK - do get in touch. Hey, get in touch anyway, whereever you are.

Have a good Christmas to you all you single heppersthere.

Divorced Portuguese & American Indian 42 yrs young hepper.
Cirotic liver, 3mo into combo treatment. Im standing on the word, clinging to the Rock. This is a lonely illness, and non-heppers are afraid of us. I must have been sick for at least 15yrs. The stigma of this is awefull. I believe there is alot of hep+ people out there.

Ive been alone for so long now. I was married for 13yrs, The divorce changed my life along with my three daughters. Its been 6yrs now, and Im just finally living and bam here comes the HCV. Im pretty sick, but I wont let the dragon bring me down.

I was raised on the pennisula south of San Francisco, move to MO in 82 and relocated to the Dallas/FortWorth area due to my job.

I consider myself lucky and blessed even with this chain around my neck.

My sister who is 45 also has been DX. Her geno is worse than mine, she is 1A and Im 3A. However my liver is not in the best shape. The Dr's said we have completely different strains, therefore, they are not related. Who knows, its a comfort to know (or think) I did not cause her HCV.

My sister is also is single, we live right accross the street from each other. We have always done things in parallel. We work for the same corporation, were both closing on houses this month. Its really a bit much:)

Thanks for letting me vent. I would love to meet a nice, fun, and positve HepC man.

If you were wondering my father nick-named me Powder Puff at birth. Didnt realize I had a legal name until school.

Greetings to everyone,

I am living out here in Palm Springs, California, and am looking for a fabulous lady, to meet and fall in love with. I am a 49 year old man, who enjoys life, and am very found of the ocean, the mountains, and cuddling up and watching a good movie, with a special friend. I love to fish, and explore the redwoods of Northern California, and sit and enjoy sunrises and sunsets. I have had our "friend" for many years, and went through a transplant in 1999, at UCLA. I am doing great!, and want to make my recovery complete, by finding that special lady, who understands and is going through the same situations, I have faced. I would prefer someone that is outgoing and exciting, and loves to have fun, and is looking to do as much as possible with whatever time we are given together. One with an adventurous spirit, and is happy, and enjoys being passionate, holding hands, and is open about showing the love that is capable between two people. If this interests you, feel free to write anytime, and I will be happy to respond to all.

I am also open to talking about my transplant with anyone, I did not do well with any of the treatments, so I am not very much help there, but am sure I could be of assistance to those that might be facing, or looking at that option, in the future.

My best to everyone, I hope you all keep dreaming and believe that there will be some substantial help for us in the not to distant future, and that we must keep strong and open, and seek all the love and help and encouragement, we can find.

Love,
Dale

I try to jog when I feel up to it, even if it's a very short distance, since I used to jog for long distances when I was in my 20's. Once a runner, always a runner! Lol!
Write me if you have similar interests and have hep C. Oh, btw, I've always been interested in an older man, of and up to around 10 yrs difference or so.

Hello everyone. I am a 48-year old woman who lives in northern New Jersey and I was diagnosed with hep c in 1994. I've been through monotherapy for a year (unsuccessful) and just completed peg interferon & ribavirin treatment for six months (also unsuccessfully). I just recently started looking on the internet for hep c info and I'm amazed at the amount of information that's available online. I'm looking for some friends that live closeby to talk to, it seems that most of the folks that post messages live on the west coast. I'd love to chat with anyone that reads this, though, it's wonderful talking to people who can really understand the loneliness, fear, and pain of having chronic hepatitis c. I wish everyone good health and peace.

Hi all!!!

Isn't this a new one? I am a 35 single mom of two teens, one boy 16 and one girl 13. I have been diagnosed w/ hep-c for 10 months now and my viral load is at 8 million. Hell that was the last time they checked!! I have failed on the rebatron therapy and am waiting for the flood waters in Houston to subside so I can get in contact w/ The Liver Center as my present Dr. is at a loss for what to do for me.

I am a recovering IV drug user and alcoholic (2 1/2 years drugs, 10 months alcohol) who is involved w/ AA which for now has saved my life. I am a dog groomer who loves my job. I am 5 ft. 7 inches and unfortunatly have suffered thyroid problems w/ therapy so at present I am wieghing 156 lbs. I have an appoitment soon w/ that specialist as well. :)

I am at this point unsure if I will ever have the life I have always hoped for. I had a bad childhood which carried on to adulthood and there came the drugs. I have had unsuccesful relationships throughout life and now am unsure how much life I have left to achieve the one I always looked for.

Anyways, I know all this sounds bleak so if anyone wants to chat or e-mail let me know. I am looking to give and get encouragement.

Have a good day, much love, Monica

Everyone who reads this please look up the word DiBisceglie on the net and choose the "Putting it in Perspective" website. Dr. Adriano DiBisceglie is the head of the American Liver Foundation, a hepatologist and a scientist. I trust what he says. On page four he says that if your liver has little damage (or none) yet, he suggests you wait for four or five years (the article is one year old) because he believes that they will have a better treatment by then. I think this website is very informative. Bye for now.

I am a single mother and recently met a man with HCV--someone who is a pretty good match for me. But when he told me he had HCV I panicked--sorry to all of you that are positive but that was my initial reaction. Now I am trying to learn as much as I can about the disease. My problem is--should I continue dating this man?? I have read about the minimal risks of sexual transmission but do I want to take that chance?? If someone out there could share their thoughts, feelings or experiences with this I would appreciate it.

Seems to be alot of discloser worry around these parts. Considering there's many other wonderous virus'es besides HCV out there, such as herpes, hep B, genital warts, clamydia, ect, safer sex seems to me to be a good option. Really, we must look to the hard work done by the last 20 years of AIDS activism, and try and build up a little self esteme. Survival is sexy. All victims are inocent victims. If someone has a problem with my past, then the future with them aint promising. Joke em if they cant take a f**k...

I am a little bit put back by the responses of people that I am suppose to be close and that can depend on me and I thought that I may depend on them.

Is it a common reaction, that when you tell the significant
other that you have hep c for them to leave and forget the promises and commitments of love?
Is it also common for people in general to act like you have

Hi Tsion, sounds like you may know where I'm coming from. By treatment I meant 17 months of Rebetron combo or 5 million units of Interferon and 800 milligrams of Ribavirin every day. My doctor believes in going at this with extreme aggression. I took only one month off of work and went to California for all of Jan. My boss said I looked like an Auschwitz victim, which I did. I look and feel much better now. It was rough, but, compared to kicking heroin, it was still a cakewalk, a thought which made me determined to go through with it. I am undetectable and I have only mild scarring and no inflamation. A girl at work drank from my glass by mistake and called me at home the next day to ask me if she was going to be okay. I did not know shit about this either before I got it. Most people don't, do they? Love on ya, Dana

Does anyone have any advice or experience they can share with me on the subject of Dating. I am recently single and therefore have only had minimal experience with this aspect of my disease. How do you maintain a normal lifestyle? When do you tell people? How do they usually react? I have had 4 experiences since my boyfriend of six years and I broke up. Two were positive but the most recent two were very negative. I am extremely distraught and don't know how to deal with this. Can anyone share with me? I thought maybe a support group would be a good place to meet people, because then everyone is in the same boat. I am 31, single and still quite healthy at the moment. I am not ready to give up yet.

Starting to get a little lonely here, been single for 10 months now and starting to miss the little things when a woman is around. Had hepc for 12 years but ok so far with no symptoms, even had a biopsy done in 98 just to make sure. I am 40 years old and weight 180 (5'6"). Been hitting the gym for 10 years so no fat and a little bit of muscle. Lol

I was just diagnosed with hep c last week. My enzyme levels are only slightly elevated & my doctor say's it might go away --- I'm not counting on it.
I haven't told anyone but my psych about it. I'm looking for a lady in the neighborhood of 30-36 yrs in the lower mainland in a similar position.
I'm a really nice guy & in very good shape.

Hello from Vancouver BC.
A single (49 yrs. young) white male who is too honest, too adventurous, and too lonely.

Have gone through the combo treatment program to no avail but still hoping and learning. I suffer with only minimal symptoms which allows me to do my job fulltime. I am not a drug user and hopeful in meeting a woman who shares the same dark secret and is intersted in meeting great guy with a compassionate outlook on life. I do have a web page so if you are living in my area between the age of 35 to 45, please drop me a line. I WILL surprise you with my wit and charm not to mention my humourous side.
