I thought North Carolina had it in the bag but I knew she wouldn't get the crown because this was not the year for a blonde and also it WAS the year for a minority. Those things matter big time. I'm not thrilled about Colorado at all but she's a logical choice. Pageants are all politics. New Jersey just doesn't have the teen look. Actually, I was surprised in the top 15 but that's the way it is. Seeing the girls in person makes the big difference from just seeing pictures. But, I do think that North Carolina personifies the teen look all the way. But, she already is a professional model and has graced the cover of big time magazines so her career will move on without the crown. I do not see Colorado as a model type.

Alabama: I hate the skirt. It's not fashion forward.
Alaska: Cute, but I think it's too short.
Arizona: It hurts my eyes. Too Miss.
Arkansas: I don't like the color combo, but it's a cute design.
California: Whoa! What guy did she steal this from? Too manly for me.
Colorado: This one is cute, but I wouldn't wear it.
Connecticut: I love interview suits, and she really nailed this one.
Delaware: The gauchos aren't doing it for me, and it is too distracting from her beautiful face!
DC: Another suit! A little toobig on the top, and she doesn't look very good in white.
Florida: What is up with the eyelet romper? Hideous.
Georgia: This is very nice. Long enough, but still teen. One of my favorites!
Hawaii: I don't like how you can see that tiny bit of stomach. Makes her seem unprofessional.
Idaho: The shirts seem too casual for the pants. Not well coordinated.
Illinois: Beauiful suit, but very risky on the top. WAY too old for her!
Indiana: What's up with animal prints? I don't like them, they are too distracting!
Iowa: WHOA! Mini skirt?? NO! Cute top, though!
Kansas: Yuck. Don't like it at all!
Kentucky: Very cute, but I wouldn't have gone with a mint green with it!
Louisiana: Super cute design, but I don't like the colors.
Maine: Very cute, but I think it's too short. Bring back the professionalism!
Maryland: Very cute suit, good color for her, but is that a zipper up the front?
Massachusetts: Too muddy with all the browns, and those dots are hideous!
Michigan: One of my favorites. Good color, looks amazing on her!
Minnesota: Super cute! I like this a lot! One of my favorites!
Mississippi: Bad fabric choice, bad placement of the pockets, and what's with the knit cardigan?
Missouri: Ugly. What's going on?
Montana: Adorable. More for a party, but it looks very good on her!
Nebraska: Why does she show her bellybutton? Would've been cute if her stomach wasn't hanging out.
Nevada: Very cute, but the lapels are WAY to big.
New Hampshire: The top looks like something from a hideous prom dress, the bottom looks terrible.
New Jersey: Another suit! Looks great, but a little too old lady for a teen.
New Mexico: Terrible. The patterns don't match, looks thrown together.
New York: Ultra cute. Love the splash of blue.
North Carolina: I'm not sure if I like it or not.
North Dakota: I hate the trim, and I'm not a fan of tweed.
Ohio: Another animal print. This would've been cute in a solid color.
Oklahoma: It's cute, but I wouldn't wear it for an interview.
Oregon: She tried to jazz up the white, but I just on't like it on her.
Pennslyvania: Too boring.
Rhode Island: Beautiful suit. Looks great on her.
South Carolina: Too old for her.
South Dakota: Total eyesore. Very hippy-like for me.
Tennessee: It would've been cute if it was fitted at the bottom.
Texas: I want to rip off that bow and jacket. She models so much better dresses, and she should use those!
Utah: The yellow pants with the white was mismatched.
Vermont: It makes her look so much heavier. I do not like this at all!
Virgina: What the?? Too much going on, and what is that rope thing?
Washington: Beautiful suit. One of the best!
West Virgina: The suspenders were a bad choice. And button up, please! Too risky!
Wisconsin: Looks like a nightie with sleeves. Ugly.
Wyoming: Very safe, but very professional.

BEST: Wyoming, Washington, Rhode Island, New York, Montana, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, and Connecticut.

I need help with the judges. What if any guidelines or ideas are given to the judges? My daughter has been in pagaents and she paid for coaching, spent hours preparing for the big day,shopping at paganet shops for the right dress, right the cut for a teen, all the work and effort that everyone goes through and then you meet the judges and you ask yourself what do they know?
Do you think they are times when the judges are looking for the blonde, or minority or brainy or brunette?
I am fascinated and I love pagaents and I would love the inside scoop... I love to listen to your ideas about the judges and what do they look for? Do they look for the same qualities that the pagaent coach is giving out as advice.

Just how does the preliminary process work in choosing the top 15. Because if it was based on presentation and beauty then how did DC, Florida, Mississippi, Maryland, Texas, Oregon, Washington, and Louisiana miss the cut?
I am very happy Colorado won, but still there were so many girls I thought did excellent in the prelim videos I saw. I wonder which 6 Trump knocked out to put his personal choices in. Doesn't the prelim judges just choose 9 and Trump/MUO pick 6?I know not everyone will agree with every state I mentioned above that I thought should have been there. But overall, I know these girls were mentioned numerous times as contenders on here, and I think we had some major contenders robbed from a top 15 spot this year. In my opinion this was one of the weirdest semi-finalists I have ever saw. But in the end Hilary (Colorado) wasn't a bad choice.

I think NC Teen pulled an unlucky question. "What is the most daring thing you have ever done and what did you learn from the experience?" Unlucky because in
the earlier interview segment she mentioned parasailing over a shark breeding ground with her brother. Telling about that and that sometimes you have to take risks
to experience some of the fascinating things in life would have been a great answer. But since she had already mentioned it, it would have been redundant. What a lost
opportunity for the only truly teen girl in the top 5. It's obvious MUO wasn't looking for a teen type this year, though.

Did anyone see the camera shot of her backstage? Poor girl was in tears. Thought it was a bit intrusive of the camera crew, just my opinion.

VERY surprised that GA, TX didn't make Top 15.

Did anyone see Utah and the frowning face she made when she didn't make Top 15?

OK, this was by far the strangest teen USA pageant ever!!! I do agree with the winner, although the rest of the others (i.e. finalists, semifinalists, quarterfinalist) were pretty much wrong. Sure, I wasn't there for the prelims but come on, a video/picture says a thousand words. What happened to the most pulchcritudenous and intellgent gal of the bunch "TEXAS". Her pics, interview, and overall presence was flawless. New York was special and was overlooked. I'm noteven from either of these states but I am shocked and can understand why the pageant will not be televised next year. I do agree with Colorado win but above all the rest were just bland. This pageant is not exciting nor special. Oh well, whom I to judge, I am one with an opinon and will voice it. Congrats to all the gals. You all are beautiful and you all are winners!!! TEXAS you were robbed!!!

Evening Gown Presentation Review

Alabama - Good presentation. Gown comes across very elegant but still too Miss.
Alaska - Confident but her walk is more suited for swimsuit than evening gown. Not a fan of the gown.
Arizona - Very awkward presentation. Gown seems stiff.
Arkansas - Not a fan of the floral print, but her presentation is decent.
California - Well, she changed to a much better gown but her presentation is terrible.
Colorado - Decent presentation except for her hand slapping her thigh at the end. Gown moves well.
Connecticut - Very awkward presentation of a nice gown.
Delaware - Decent presentation but the gown itself is still bad.
District Of Columbia - Fair presentaion. Gown looks much better than in stills.
Florida - Her presentaion is fair but the gown is still awful.
Georgia - Fair presentation but gown does not flow as it looks like it should and really does not suit her.
Hawaii - She presents well but the two-tone with front slit style makes her seem even shorter than she is. I would love to have seen her in a solid color.
Idaho - Fair presentaion. Not a fan of the gown but moves better than I thought it would.
Illinois - Seems tentative.
Indiana - Presentaion seems lacklustre. I like the gown but does not look as good on her when she moves. Makes her seem shorter and a bit chunky.
Iowa - Just fair presentation and the gown seems too snug.
Kansas - Don't like the gown but she carries it well.
Kentucky - Her presentaion and gown both scream kiddie pageant.
Louisiana - Good presentation. This gown makes her look a little older.
Maine - Presentation is just okay and the gown accentuates her shortness. She comes over a bit pre-teen for 18.
Maryland - Good presentation. Gown moves well.
Massachusetts - Not a bad gown but her presentaion is only fair and the thigh rubbing is a no-no.
Michigan - The gown is better than the other and her presentation is okay..
Minnesota - Presentation is decent but gown is too sexy for teen.
Mississippi- Presentation is okay. Not a fan of the ruffles.
Missouri - The horrible bow ruins the gown and messing with her hair ruined her presentation.
Montana - Fair presentaion but the gown is too cutesy for her.
Nebraska - Good presentaion and gown moves well.
Nevada - Hair is so messy it ruins the presentation and the gown is not great.
New Hampshire - Good presentation.
New Jersey - Good presentation. Gown looks better than in stills.
New Mexico - Presentation is so-so and the gown is awful.
New York - Good presentation.
North Carolina - Good presentation and gown flows beautifully.
North Dakota - Fair presentation. The gown is okay but would have been better in another color.
Ohio - The gown is a change for the better but her presentation is awkward.
Oklahoma - Decent presentation. As for the gown not fond of the colors but it's okay.
Oregon - Okay presentation.
Pennsylvania - Presentation not great and not a good change of gown. This one makes her look short and chunky.
Rhode Island - This is a pretty gown. Unfortunately she does not carry it well and the color clashes as she is much too tan.
South Carolina - Her presentation is okay. Didn't like her original gown and don't like this one as all the sparkles take attention from her face to her neck.
South Dakota - Good presentation of a bad gown.
Tennessee - Presents well. This would be a nice gown if only it was another color.
Texas - Presentation okay but the gown is horrible.
Utah - Lacklustre presentation of a horrible gown.
Vermont - Bad presentation of a bad gown.
Virginia - Presentation just okay. Liked the gown in stills but not so much on stage.
Washington - Presentation just okay and the red stone on her hip is distracting. Not a fan of the gown.
West Virginia - Presentation okay. Don't like the gown.
Wisconsin - Presentation lacklustre. Gown okay but wrong color for teen.
Wyoming - Hard to judge presentation with the weird ending. Don't care for the lingerie style gown.

Swimsuit presentations were really wild for the most part this year so I won't even attempt to analyze each contestant
but a few of the girls were ridiculously over the top, IMO. Thoughts?

It wasn't as nice as I have seen in the past. I thought the singers and the songs were inappropriate. The delegates dancing in there swimsuits made them look like strippers and the modeling keeps getting more awkward each year. No need to have a top fifteen, just a top ten. The top five need to get the same onstage question. I like the winner.

I unfortunately didn't get to attend the pageant this year but since I got to see the show on t.v, I was wondering how the coronation ball went?
Did they sell tickets to it, or was it open for the public with your ticket to the show, or was each girl given a handful tickets to pass out to her friends and family?
were the celebrities there? did many of the girls come? was it crowded? food? music? how long did it go for?
anyone who attended the pageant or coronation ball could fill us in, it would be greatly appreciated.

I missed the first part of the pageant, turned it on right before the decision was announced. Does anyone know what Miss Colorado's hometown is? I can't find it anywhere on the web. Any ideas?

My current top 15 prediction list!
This year the quality is high and anyone can win. Below is my final predictions for Miss Teen USA 2007. Tune in tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST on NBC to find out who won!

My Top Five

New Jersey Great presentation in swimsuit and evening gown. Very confident. Best Preliminary Performance winner and Best In Swimsuit winner.
North Carolina She did not do as well as excepted in preliminaries but her final performance might bring her to second place.
Colorado Many fans pick her as their top 5 favorite and she do well in the preliminaries.
West Virginia Good evening gown and very tall. Except her to do well. Best In Evening Gown winner.
Kentucky Best in Offical Portrait winner and beautiful on stage.

My Top Ten

Texas Sophisticated and poised. Should break the two year curse.
Washington She did not do very well in the preliminaries but with her Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2005 2nd runner up title, she has experience and style.
New York Very good in swimsuit. Knows her to walk and turn. Not the best gown but should make the cut.
Virginia Strong delegate, could move up to a higher position.
Indiana Good in the preliminaries and confident.

My Top Fifteen

Alaska Do well in the preliminaries and the sash factor might not be considered.
South Carolina Very good in preliminaries and stunning in evening gown.
Kansas Very tall and pretty.
Arkansas Scored high in the preliminaries and even though she is 5'4", she has a chance.
Tennessee On the bubble. Not the best gown but she is a favorite with many pageant fans.

Alternates (16th to 25th): Minnesota, Florida, Louisiana, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Nebraska, Alabama, South Dakota, and Rhode Island.

*All of the alternates are strong and they might easily win the crown*

It looks like voters think it is time for a red-head to win a major beauty pageant. New Jersey's Alyssa Campanella claimed the top spot in the Miss Teen USA 2007 Pageant Playoffs. Texas dropped from the top spot back to fifth. Colorado finishes in 2nd, North Carolina in 3rd.

Does Miss Maine look a bit like Jodie Sweetin from "Full House"? It might be just me, but she bears an uncanny resemblance to "Stephanie Tanner" in her swimsuit photo...she is adorable though, very much like a teenager!

I am looking for a used jamye shaw swimsuit. My budget doesn't allow me to but the one I want new ($370). I am looking for a black and white animal print with pink trim, a hot pink with black trim, or a bublegm pink with lime trim but I am willing to look at anything. If anyone can help please post.

What happens if a Miss Teen USA delegate is at Miss Teen USA when her school starts? Does that count as an excused absence for missing school for 1 or 2 weeks. I know in my state some schools start next week, but I know in other states they don't start back until September. But how does that effect the delegates who do miss school?

Since I'm originally from Kentucky, I have been pulling for Katrina, but after the prelim show, Washington blew me and everyone sitting around me away! She was amazing! There was something different about her that made her stand out. Another one that did well was DC. I didn't expect that. If Washington doesn't win, I think she will be in the top five.

At the Miss Ohio America Program, someone told me that Patricia Campbell told a few people that some of the minority girls didn't do that well, but they needed minorities because they had complaints. Does anyone know if this is true?

After vids, headshots, SS, EG, jeans wear, and interview outfits-

Top Ten-
NC- I almost don't want her to win she's such a standout- it would be such an obvious choice
CA- Completely competent in every way
AL- She's got that certain something- she looks like an old-school pageant girl, which I like
LA- Sigh. People must be really pretty in LA- it's every year with this state
NJ- She's different. I hope being pale doesn't hurt her. Pale can be pretty
SC- Will grow up to look like Jan on the Office. Really pretty- could stand to, um, tone it down a bit
MS- Tired of all the prettyprincesswhitefloatyinnocenteg crap, but she's lovely
MN- A wildhorse- she's a little wonky straight on, but very stylish and I don't know, Trumpish. Nice hair.
ME- I know they want tall but she's so adorable. Love the bangs.
OR-It was between her and OH for me and she's in the lead. A lovely brunette.

What a tough year! A good, solid, open, race.

I work in Pasadena so I've been able to watch a lot of the competition. As a fan, it has been fasinating.

So far, I can guarantee your top 15 to include Illinois, Florida, South and North Carolina, Alabama. I haven't seen the other 1/3 of the contestants such as Texas that are getting such buzz. I can only tell you the girls I listed really stick out from the others. If your favorite isn't on my list, don't get upset, I haven't seen everyone in person.

I watched the interview section today and some girls that didn't make an impression earlier did so today. They were New Mexico and Iowa. Very cute and funny. Another obsevation was the girls under 5 feet 6 really looked like little girls in comparison and it made an impact to me visually live. Expect your top 15 to be taller delegates.

I also have my list of "no way" but I won't post that because it is mean spirited.

North Carolina My winner. Totally consistent. Totally teen.
Kansas Great teen face.
Louisiana Very sweet looking.
Alabama Lovely. Will do well.
Oklahoma Great body. Her height will get attention.
