"'Hi, I’m a Barnsley fan, and I’ve come onto your site to thank your
club, and your club’s supporters for the good wishes that you have posted
on many of our boards.
The situation at our club is not good, and it doesn’t bode well for
many clubs. We thought we were secure – we’d had moderate success, but the
boom and bust of the football economy was too much for our directors to
handle. Now we are looking to all our major stakeholders to help dig us
out of trouble – our fans, our directors, our investors, our players,
but also the away fans who have visited Oakwell. This is because without
other clubs there is no football at all. The more clubs slip into
financial hardship, and out of the league, the worse football becomes for
everyone. We want the solidarity of the football league to help us at
this time with a small gesture.
So many fans from so many clubs have offered to help – well now you
can. In our away stand we are proposing to set up a seating section to
commemorate all the clubs who are helping us out of trouble, so that they
are remembered by our fans for generations to come. If your club can
raise just £100 from your entire support, your club will get its name
engraved on a seat in our section of commemoration. What we are asking is
that individuals who feel moved to help us within your supporters club
contact me and we can take if from there.
Many thanks for all your best wishes, every Barnsley fan is grateful.
