I guess you can tell I'm still torn between the Intek 3030 and 5050 radio's.
I've got both sets at the moment to test (kindly allowed by Thunderpole - obviously on sale or return).
They are both great radios, simple to use, similar features for my needs and both feel pretty sturdy.
My dilemma is that 5050 may be a bit too heavy for my son when we go beating. It does everything I want and I only wish i had a modded pair to see how good they REALLY could be!!
The 3030's are perfect in size and weight. These apparently have been tweaked to about 2 watts, and on my first outing straight out of the box I got 1.7 miles out of them, but on the second outing only got 1.3 and that was on a full 12 hour charge.
If I'm honest, about a mile is all I really need for the uses I want, but more would be great to allow me sit at home and start scanning the iar to see if I can have a chat with someone new!!
The one thing that really bugs me about the 3030 is the battery icon. There isn't one until the battery gets low... and even when you stick a full set of charged batteries in and turn it on, it doesn't show any power meter to confirm you have a full charge!!
I was wondering about the G8's as they seem pretty good, but don't know if they can be tweaked.
Oh decisions decisions!!
