Subject: Cobra PR 1100-2WX Question

I purchased 2 of these so called illegal radios from the states and they operate on either 0.5watt or 2watt giving a 5 mile range. It has 22 channels(7 FRS/GMRS, 7 FRS, 8 GMRS) I am unable to lock on to any frequency from PMR446 or any radios used in shops etc. I can get the 2 to talk working together great, but that it's, seems like a total waste of money and why they are illegal to import in the UK is beyond me as you are not picking any police traffic etc.

Any ideas or should I just put it down to experience don't work in the UK and just thow them in the bin and look elsewhere for a decent 2 way radio with a 5/10 mile range and is not limited to PMR446 limitations.
