Subject: Non UK - more powerful PMR kit

Hi Guys,

I wish to buy some PMR (or similar) radios, for both vehicular and handheld use (and maybe also a base station).

The equipment will be used abroad (africa), and licensing restrictions on power within this band are efectively non-existent (also, virtually no-one is using it, which is also good).

The 1/2 watt UK spec will not give me the range I need (really looking for around 10-15 miles).

Any advise please on kit I can source in the UK and modify / reprogram easily to work at the power levels I need ? It doesn't need to be subtle as it'll be legal !

Also, what type of external antenna shoudl I use for the car and "base station" installs please ?
