don't listen to anyone telling you that camping is illegal. its a free country and anyone telling you you can't do something like pitch a tent for a night is a lunatic. nobodies gonna stop you. if anyone would actually complain about something like that like this guy did ^^then i feel bad for the animals as well. next thing you know this guy will start teaching deer to read so he can't put no grazing signs in his yard.

no places to eat though sorry. but you pitch that tent where ever you little heart desires. the most that will happen is the one cop we have will come around and tell you to take it down. tell him you didn't know camping was illegal and you'll be on your way. sleep in your car for the rest of the night and get on the ferry in the morning and turn your back on prudence. the locals tend to get loopy when the tourist population starts to grow. i've even heard stories of the locals driving off the tourists with pitchforks. you see, i need my solitude because im an artist and love the peace but i don't stand for these locals claiming prudence as their own. the animals own prudence and there is nothing more to it.

You mentioned that you are an artist in your reply about camping. Would you happen to be a painter? I grew up on the island during the summer and I'm looking for a painting of the light house on Sany Point. I'd love to give it to my dad for Christmas. His family owned a home on the island and even though it has been sold and we havne' been back for many years, the island still has a place in our hearts. Anyway, thank you for your time.

Despite what our animal loving artist friend says, there really isn't any camping on the island and there are no facilities for campers. No campground, no water, no public toilets etc. There is also no public transport, no restaurants etc. The obvious place to camp would be the park on the southern part of the island but that is a State Park which specifically prohibits camping. Much of the island is conservation land which is generally wooded and overgrown with briar so not optimal for camping. Sure someone could bring light camping equipment over on the ferry and use a bike for transport but it would hardly be a relaxing experience.
