As sk pointed out, that was a glitch I just couldn't let slide; my OCD won't let me. ;)

I think Nikita wants to be able to believe Michael. She has an inherent naïveté that really wants to trust him, but she's been burned too many times; it bothers her that she can't accept what he tells her at face value.
