GEEZ... I know where you are coming from. Zack lost the use of his rear legs in February. We found the walkabout rear harness to help immensely as it supports them pretty well and offers less backstrain on you. As far as when... I have set it in my mind that when he is no longer himself, loses the use of either front leg, in pain, or has just given up... then it's time. he weighs about 85#... and I carry him outside at night and at 6 am. I use the walkabout in the evening, twice. Pat uses the walkabout to move him outside... but it has it's limitations. We bought a wheelchair. Cannot get the weight loading correct yet. I will have to modifiy it if we are ever to use it...
