Subject: Star Baby

I know that some of you have been through this, but this is a first for me.

About a month ago, Star developed an indolent eye ulcer. My vet prescribed an eye ointment and I took her back for a recheck two weeks ago. He wasn't happy with the progress, so recommended that she go see the eye specialist here in town.

We were finally able to see him today, and he recommended the grid keratotomy procedure. The good thing is that it can be done right then & there, and I was able to watch as it was being done. Star did not have to be put under for this, and they use a topical anesthetic drop applied to the eye. The bad thing is it's a bit of an "icky" procedure to watch, but it was also quite interesting. Another bad thing is the cost....ouch.

Star will be on two different eye ointments for two to three weeks and then will go back for a recheck.
