glitter-graphics.comAs I go into a brand new year I reflect on 2008. Had some crushing loses. Amazing highs in career. Made new friends that are in my heart all the time. But most of all I continue to find growth in my path to healing. My voyage to true empowerment. I have only one goal this year. That is to enjoy happiness and release guilt. Especially things I am not responsible for. I look forward to seeing as many of you through out the year. And for all those I will see in Aug. it's DRAMA TIME!!! Lots of love!!!

Karina, Children's Charity Director, Iryna Chernomaz, Mrs. Globe and Cammie McBrayer, Ms. North America

Mrs. Globe's Christmas for Kids Travel Team!

Our first day in Kharkov we were joined by our beautiful Mrs. Black Sea, Tetyana Tkachenko. That evening we attended the Mayor's Ball. This Ball was Iryna's Christmas for Kids fundraising event and it was fabulous! Iryna partnered with another local children's charity to hold this spectacular gala complete with the "Who's Who" of Kharkov, television coverage, newspaper/magazine reporters, paparazzi, champagne, enough hors d'ovres to make us all fat and auction. Attending a Ukrainian auction was an interesting experience but one I am happy to say we were at because between Iryna and Karina's efforts, they raised almost $100,000!!! Some of this money will be used to help replace the windows the home we visited desperately needed. CONGRATULATIONS, Iryna!!

Our second day in Kiev, Iryna arranged a tour for the Globe Travel Team so we could see and learn about this city. I believe I speak for all of us when I say we were very surprised at the beauty of Kiev! The buildings and architecture were incredible and full of history; much of which, sadly, is riddled with tragedy and struggle. I say this with admiration for the people of Ukraine whom are definitely survivors. I wish I could post ALL of our photos but I am hoping these will give you all an idea of the experience we had. The city is full of gorgeous cathedrals (called 'louvras') two of them above. The entire inside of the first one (yellow) is completely covered in the most breath-taking hand-painted murals ~ none of which have had to be restored! You could even smell the oils that were used to paint them....

Here, we are at Kiev's Golden Gate. Years ago, this was the only entrance into the city and was said to be impossible to infiltrate... as you can see, they were right! In the second photo, you see one of the many monuments in the city.

This monument was titled simply - "The Cat". It is told that this is a monument honoring a cat that lived in a store across the street from the Golden Gate. This statue is said the be the ACTUAL size of the cat and if you touched the tip of his tail, you would receive good luck.... needless to say, ALL of us felt it necessary to touch the tail of the cat!

This last photo is of the "Well of Good Wishes". This well is located within the central "courtyard" of the final cathedral we visited. In the middle of this structure you can see the well with a white cross on top. Just below this cross are four metal arms that protrude from the well with a flat surface on the end. It is said that you take a coin, wet it in the water, place it on the end of this metal arm and make a wish. If the coin sticks, your wish will come true ~ if it does not..... better luck next time! Cammie, has your wish come true....?

A special thank you to, Nadya, our tour guide for the day. She was so knowledgeable and excited to tell us of the history of her home city!

Hello everyone,

Christmas for kids was am amazing journey in many ways...I have never had such a great feeling to be in the company of such unbelievable women with the same purpose. Seeing the look on each of our faces as we each embraced the beautiful kids truly can't be put into words. Iryna did such a beautiful job making us each feel welcomed and shared many of their customs and traditions with us, we were treated as family. Katyo (Belarus) and Tatrianna (BLack Seas)were fantastic translators between the non russian/belarussian/ukrainian speaking visitors, thank you and sorry if spelled wrong:( Jessica (Singapore) and Linda (Singapore business partner and friend) were so creative in finding ways to raise money for this cause and really are both incredible people to be with. Laura did a phenomenal job of being photographer and blogger for us. Tracy and Spyro were as excited as we all were even though they had this experience many times. Viktoia and Michael and there childern are a beautiful family that truly seem to have it all.

This is an experiene that will never be forgotten and the face of each child is embedded into my mind. The Ukrainian people are the most hospitable of any country I have ever visited and I am from the South so I know hospitality LOL!!

I really feel blessed to have been a part of this and it would be my dream for each of you to have this life changing experience as well. This is what it is all about and the Ukrainian home for children nor my newly made Urkrainian friends will ever be too far out of my mind

Love you All!

Cammie

The first evening in Kiev we enjoyed a traditional Ukrainian dinner and had the opportunity to sample many different traditional dishes. The food was incredible as was the music. They call restaurants 'houses' in Ukraine and the "house" we ate in was located on the river. Though Ukraine is cold...the weather here is nothing compared to what we are experiencing in Colorado right now; although the Singaporians and the Californians were freezing!

I feel so blessed to be working with children. The children in my class chose to collect money for Christmas for kids. They also drew pictures for them. They asked their parents for money to help as well as using money from their own piggy banks. Together they raised $260 ļ Some of the things the children in my class want for the children in the Ukraine are: new families, windows, new walls, toys, food and make up. It is so great to see the impact that young children can make!
