Niftee 50ees
Classic Cruise News!
By: Randy Shannon

April 28, 2010

Attendance hit 309 Classic Street Rods this past Saturday night at Niftee 50ees.

Several new rides visited for the first time and we welcome all that attended.

A beautiful weekend of Street Roddin' was enjoyed by all.

Parking

A friendly reminder to all our fellow rodders that parking at the weekly events is provided for you through our lease agreement at the shopping center.

We try to accommodate everyone and their fellow club members or friends the best we can but realize that some nights are busier than others.

With this in mind we ask all participants to assemble in a mannerly order and lets try to arrive together if you wish to park together.

We simply cannot reserve spaces for late arrivals and hold spots when others are looking for spaces to get safely parked.

In addition lets work and respect fellow group settings as car members try to park together although it will depend on the volume we have on any given night.

There are NO guarantees of special parking or designated spots but we will try our best to make sure everyone is as close to fellow friends as possible.

Again, if you want to park together arrive together and we will do our best.
We have stressed this many times

Tell the door greeter if you are all together so we can attempt to prepare the appropriate amount of spaces. It may not be where you wish to park every weekend but we will do our best.

Let us try and explain that we have to work with the tenants and property management with parking.

The secured coned area reserved for Maxx Tan and Message Envy is in accordance with our lease to provide their customers with parking until closing time and we must reserve a certain area for them during business hours.

Maxx Tan closes at 7 pm
Message Envy at 6 pm

All rodders should refrain from parking in these areas marked for these businesses until their closing.

Starbucks has given us most of all their parking lot to help with the situation.

As you can see we are faced with ever growing challenges and ask our street rodders for your assistance.

Our request for a deferred show time of 30 minutes helps us to clear out the parking for these customers and allow our later arrivals a place to park as the spaces become vacant.

We do realize many try to come early to get a good spot or favorite spot.

We have no real problems on a slower night but on busy nights we are challenged enormously.

In summary, those that arrive early will be asked to park in the outer skirts or in the Starbuck's parking area first.

Thank's to everyone for your cooperation and understanding.

We are working to make sure everyone has a place to go on a Saturday night.

Everyone I talked to Saturday was fighting the Pollen in the air, but the weather was
absolutely excellent for the Alvin Rotary Club Frontier Day Car Show. Spectators were
everywhere because of not only the interest in the Car Show, but for the Arts & Crafts,
OK Corral Shoot 'm up, and the Carnival of rides for the kiddies. Congratulations to
SCC Tom Fulmer for walking away with Best of Show with his 2004 Red Corvette.

I came across something that the lady folks might enjoy doing while traveling to Car
Shows. A new thing going around is personalizing a blanket with pictures of the Car
Show Shirts printed right on to the blanket.

Linda Richards (Brad's Muffler) was proud
to show off her blanket Car Show Blanket with already 7 pictures of Car Show prints
that she has been too, including the Alvin show in the middle. Of course not all car
shows print their shirts from a mobile trailer but Linda carries the blanket with her all
the time just in case they do.

Thank you Linda for sharing!!!

What an Awesome time had by all at the Ronald McDonald's House 21st. Birthday Party. Murdoch's was also celebrating it's 100 years in Galveston with it's newly constructed pier after total destruction by Hurricane Ike. All the top wigs of Galveston County was at this function in support for the Ronald McDonald House. Good Food, Good Music,Good folks, Good weather, and a variety of Classic Cars and Rods made for exceptional evening for everyone. It just doesn't get any better then this folks. The picture at the end of the album depicts how nice it really was. That orange ball just over the right shoulder of Steve Newsom (band leader, Member of the Houston Area Chevrolet Club) is the Moon rising out of the Gulf as the lights go down. I rushed putting this together so as to get it out to my buddy Randy Shannon with Niftee 50ees News Letter. Y'all enjoy the pictures, and Safe Cruisin' wherever you go this weekend.

Closing thoughts..

Have a safe journey and wonderful weekend from all of us at Niftee 50ees.

We have entered our 6th season of Saturday night cruise nights which started with approximately 5 cars in 2005.

Participation is greatly appreciated and your contributions are even more appreciative in helping us maintain our service to provide our faithful street rodders a home known to many as Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In.

Happy Roddin!

Niftee 50ees
