Confidence building techniques can be a really useful tool. As you can imagine having dyslexia, may have dented a child's self esteem and this needs to be rectified.
I was recently helping in a Personal and Social Education class with eleven year old children, a couple of whom were dyslexic. The class was about self image. They were given a piece of paper and asked to write the name of the person to their right at the bottom of the page. At the top they were asked to write a positive comment about that person and fold the comment over and pass the paper on to someone else. Eventually, each pupil received a completed sheet with a lot of lovely positive comments on, from their peers. This can help improve self esteem and confidence for dyslexic children and can act as cognitive therapy.
