Ask your child to put their finger on the word, from the start,then drag it across the word identifying the parts they know - be it individual letters, blends, vowels or word endings. Try telling them how many syllables the word has, say the word aloud, clap each part, then show them each syllable, masking the parts you are not saying with your finger.
