| Subject: Religious Hostage Taking | |
Author: Pat [Edit] |
Date Posted: 10:14:37 03/15/09 Sun When religious hostage taking is the means by which humanity is measured for its treatment of inhabitants rather than by its recognition of human needs, any society is doomed to conflict, disruption, and dismay. Humans are born of families, and it is recognition of that human family that must be the focus of public administration, laws, and rules. Allowing preferences to intervene such as religion, ethnicity, gender, nationality, or any of the peculiarities by which individuals may be classified operates to artificially endow one or another group -which necessarily excludes others. Preferences, including religious preference, is not within the scope of any administration without also siding with that discriminatory purpose. Government cannot afford such privilege as to take sides; government is the line which others must respect to prevent undue encroachment of the rights and privileges of others. Government cannot afford to discriminate, and therefore, must remain out of the religious debate under the Constitution to prevent itself from becoming hostage to any religion, creed, or cult.
