I’ve got a few hours to myself this morning. OMG your satin sailor suit sounds so sissy. It’s easy to see why you felt so humiliated wearing it. Did your mother ever make you wear your sailor suit outside with the little kilt on instead of the hot pants? How old were you the last time you wore it?

I had a similar experience with a pair of bottle green bibbed short pants when I was 12. They were a Christmas present. They were quite a snug fit, the bib had a teddy bear marching band embroidered across it and the teddies all wore little red Christmas hats. These bibbed shorts were brought out year after year for me to wear and when I grew too big for them they were replaced with a new pair that had little elves on them instead of teddies. The sheer embarrassment I felt when visiting Mummy’s friends over Christmas still makes my cheeks colour even now when I remember having my cheeks pinched and my bottom patted by Mummy’s friends and constantly being told how sweet I looked. I’m sure my mother took delight in displaying me like this to her friends.
