I. INTRODUCTION
What is World Beauty Festival Queen?
The WORLD BEAUTY FESTIVAL prides itself on being the newest international beauty pageant that not only focuses on beauty, talent, and fitness, but also on global culture, art and tradition. The pageant is organized by PHILIPPINE WORLD BEAUTY FESTIVAL INC.
THE PWBF Inc. is an organization duly registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Intellecual Property Office, and the International Organization for Standardization. The concept of producing an international beauty pageant that highlights not only beauty, intelligence and poise but also different cultural festivals around the world. Thus, the World Beauty Festival was born, an annual beauty search for a woman with a unique blend of beauty, talent, respect for culture and a strong ability to foster contacts between professionals and practitioners in the cultural sector through networks, cultural exchanges and capacity building programs. The winner of this title will support dialogue and regular exchanges between information and communication technology experts and governmental and non-governmental actors of the cultural sectors.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines culture as a set of distinctive spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional features of a society in addition to art and literature, lifestyle, ways of living together, value systems and traditions. In other words, culture is the pursuit of all matters that most concerns humankind, a culture of peace. Various forms of learning are necessary but not sufficient condition for a culture of peace. It is through understanding and mutual appreciation among individuals, groups and nations that stand at the heart of any program for peace building. The decade 2001 to 2010 has been declared the United Nation’s International Decade for Culture and Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.
As Ambassadress of Beauty with a Purpose, the winner uses her title to help build peace in the minds of everyone and around which people can mobilize for the common good. Specifically, World Beauty Festival’s goals include encouraging bilateral and multilateral cooperation among the young people; support and implement plans and programs in relation to education for a culture of peace; promote networks for peace, human rights, democracy and non-violence in the domains of the environment, gender equality and social integration.
World Beauty Festival is not only a beauty pageant search and presentation of the most beautiful and brightest young women around the world, but also serves to showcase a variety of festivals and diversity of culture from different countries. Truly, the delegates are beyond a dazzling combination of beauty, grace, poise, and intelligence that represents a new breed of future leaders.
The Philippines is one of the many tropical places in the world that has a lot to offer when it comes to natural tourist destinations. It is divided into three island groups namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao . Each island group gives diversity when it comes to tourist destinations. Luzon , being the largest division, has numerous tourist attractions that are truly world-class. This includes historical sites, dramatic sceneries of various landscapes and of course, the exceptional beaches. The smallest active volcano in the world Taal Volcano in Batangas; the volcano with the most perfect cone, Mt. Mayon in Legazpi, Albay; the unique land formation that is the Chocolate Hills in Bohol. Marvel at the endemic Philippine fauna: Tamaraw, Tarsier, Philippine Eagle, and a lot more!

BEWARE OF A SCUM PAGEANT!!! -- WARNING TO THE PAGEANT WORLD, 20:20:31 03/21/08 Fri [1]
TO ALL NATIONAL ORGANIZERS BEWARE OF MISS YOUNG INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT, IT WAS RUNNED BY AN ex-convict, AND NOW, HE IS ALLIED WITH THE MOST EVIL MAN IN THE PAGEANT WORLD!! DO NOT SEND YOUR DELEGATES TO MISS YOUNG INTERNATIONAL OR ELSE YOU'LL BE SORRY!!
BEWARE : Mark Ancheta, the organizer of the revived Miss Young International pageant, is at it again. It wasn't enough that he staged a poorly produced pageant in Manila last year with only ten contestants and used different aliases to con gullible national directors into sending delegates. This time, he managed to con Taiwanese officials to hold the third year of his pageant to be held in Taipei from October 7th to 28th. This information was forwarded to me by a national director who had received an invitation to send a delegate to the pageant, but after doing thorough research, this director discovered that Ancheta and his company are allies with John Singh, the most evil man in the pageant world. Last year's Miss Bikini World (MBW) pageant was held in Taiwan. Singh owns the MBW trademark, but I imagine that in order to save face and to maintain the title of the pageant, he might have "sold" the copyright to Ancheta's group who eventually produced the MBW 2006 pageant which was won by Hungary's Anita Horvath. My impression - that the reason the Taiwanese got suckered in by Ancheta into hosting Miss Young International - is because Taiwan is desperately imitating China into establishing itself as a major international pageant venue.
I remember, last year's Miss Young International website looked professional and decent. But what happened now? Take a look at the current site, http://missyounginternational.net/. It screams "cheap" and "tacky." - CRITICAL BEAUTY.COM
A DUBIOUS PAGEANT : Last November, a Miss Young International 2006 pageant took place in Manila and a young woman from Venezuela, Jessica Chaya, was crowned. Last month, a posting on several message boards by one "Aileen Evangelista" suggested that Chaya was "dismissed... for breach of contract because she has failed to fulfill the duties required of the title." She was supposedly replaced by the first runner-up Estefany Tomaselly of Ecuador, according to Mark Ancheta, the president of Elite Productions that organized the pageant.
I initially mentioned this pageant in my 11.27.2006 Journal; instead of "Mark Ancheta," I had mentioned "Romulo Ancheta," who appears to be the brother of Ronalyn Ancheta, whom he had handpicked as the "outgoing" Miss Young International, even though the last legitimately produced MYI pageant occurred in 1983 and won by Norway's Ana Sofie Falkenaas.
- CRITICAL BEAUTY.COM
***ACTUALLY, she PERSONALLY CROWNED HER SISTER AS MISS YOUNG INTERNATIONAL 2005, JESSICA CHAYA RESIGNED BECAUSE THE PAGEANT ORGANIZER DID NOT GAVE HER PRIZES AS A WINNER, AND NOW, Vanasa Wongbuntree (AGAIN) WILL BE RELINQUISHING HER CROWN BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT GIVEN ANY PRIZES AT ALL

FLASH MODE 2006: Promoviendo a Diseñadores Peruanos -- www.perutopmodel.com, 13:24:07 10/29/06 Sun [1]

FAVORITES OF THE POLISH MEDIA TO WIN THE MISS WORLD CROWN -- MW 112 - PHILIPPINES, 17:11:48 09/29/06 Fri [1]
Miss World contest heats up in Warsaw
By ROBERT R. REQUINTINA
Bb. Pilipinas-World Anna Maris Igpit made it to the semi-finals in the Miss World Beachwear fast-track category of the 2006 Miss World beauty contest now taking place in Warsaw, Poland.
At the pre-pageant contest held at the Grand Hotel Sopot in Poland, Igpit was among the 25 semi-finalists for the beach beauty title. But when narrowed down to 10 candidates, Igpit did not make it.
Miss Venezuela, whose motto is "Tomorrow, the sun will shine,’’ won in the pre-pageant category.
Apart from Miss Venezuela, two other contestants won in the fast-track events. Miss Northern Ireland was named Miss Talent and Miss Canada, Miss World Sportswomen.
The three beauties will now advance to the Top 16 semi-finalists, the rest of the whom will be announced during the finals on September 30 (October 1 in the Philippines). Another fast-track event — Beauty with a Purpose — will be announced in the finals. The winner will also join the elite 16 finalists.
During the finals, two finalists will be chosen from each contestant zone: AsiaPacific, Caribbean, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Africa and Americas. They will be chosen based on public choice from global voting and judges choice.
Despite the turnout at the beach beauty contest, observers said Igpit is making a good showing as one of the contestants to beat in the 56th Miss World pageant.
"At least she was included in the 25 candidates in the beach beauty category. There are more than 100 beautiful candidates in the contest, and somehow, judges took notice of her,’’ they said.
They added that the strongest contenders of Miss Philippines in the Asia-Pacific region are the delegates from Singapore and India.
Still the real test will happen on the coronation night. "We could only pray and vote for Miss Philippines.’’
Igpit was born and raised in Panglao, Bohol on April 7, 1987 to Allan and Ma. Socorro Igpit. Her family relocated to Cebu where she grew up.
Before Bb. Pilipinas, Igpit enjoyed being the toast of her provincemates. She was Miss Mandaue, Miss Bohol, and Miss Talisay among other beauty titles she garnered.
Igpit is into modelling as a part time job, but looks forward to becoming an international flight attendant to fulfill her dream of travelling around the world.
Her motto in life? "Live each day as if its your last...’’
Recently, local candidates have represented themselves well in the Miss World contest, though the crown has been very elusive for the Filipinas.
In 1993, Sharmain Gutierrez was named 2nd runner up and Asian and Oceania Queen of Beauty. The next year, Caroline Subijano made it to the semi-finals. Two years later, Daisy Reyes grabbed the Miss Personality award.
Then judges took notice of Katherine Manalo when he joined the semi-finals in 2002. The next year, Maria Rafaela Verdadero Yunon was named 4th runner-up; the next year, 2004, the Philippines represented by Ma. Karla Bautista placed 4th runner-up. Last year’s contestant also made it to the semi-finals.
Yet the country will definitely never forget the year when the Philippines placed 1st runner-up in the same contest. It was in 1973 when Evangeline Pascual won 1st runner-up.
The winner Marjorie Wallace of USA was dethroned. Controversy ensued and the Miss World crown was ready to Pascual. But the Filipina beauty decided to settle in her being a runner-up. These days, the issue still pops up during discussions among beauty pageant afficionados.

Please consider voting for Miss Trinidad and Tobago World 2006 (MW412) -- Thank you for your support!, 16:51:07 09/12/06 Tue [1]
INTERVIEW WITH TRINIDAD EXPRESS NEWSPAPER:
Future ambitions:
To be a successful woman in the professional world, having been well travelled thereby being able to be a positive influence in my country and hopefully on a larger scale, in the world.
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Born in a family hospital and grew up in a developing neighbourhood called Westmoorings located to the north of the island, my childhood days were spent surrounded by many young families and, as such, not only was I blessed with the company of my sisters but also that of amicable neighbours of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. As an adult, I have learnt that the innocent harmonisation of cultures around which I grew up was not a norm, but an exception; yet I hold that harmony is still possible in spite of a world so torn.
Tell us a little about your country.
Trinidad and Tobago, small country with big passion; people with boundless faith in our destiny; we are the smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup; home of the cricket legend and World record holder, Brian Charles Lara; host of an annual two-day (and -night) street party called Trinidad and Tobago Carnival (and the entire world is invited).
Tobago is the nest of over 150 spices of birds, breathtaking beaches and a diverse people who are all embracing.
Tell us a little about your family.
I was born to two wonderful people, now married for 30 years and am third in a line-up of four girls.
Nicha, the first sister, was born with a learning disability, disallowing her to live the same life as the rest of us. Her handicap, although not physically evident, restricts her ability to perform difficult tasks. Great moments are shared with the family when she successfully accomplishes her everyday tasks, making us all so very proud.
Growing up with Nicha has certainly made me aware of how thankful we must be for the simple joys in life.
What is your favourite food?
Coming from islands with a variety of cultures makes it difficult for someone with taste buds such as mine to choose a favourite food; however, I must admit that the scent alone of East Indian food always wins my bid. I especially favour roti, which is similar to a burrito--but softer, filled with channa (chickpeas), beef or chicken, mango, and flavoured with curry and other East Indian spices.
Favourite music?
I have two types--soca, that is a fusion of calypso, African and pop mixed rhythms; and I also enjoy vintage Jamaican dancehall.
Having lived a somewhat "regimented" life, because of academics and being a junior national swimmer, these types of music allow me to enjoy spontaneous moments of dance that are so liberating, especially during stressful times.
Do you have any pets?
Due to the fact that I was required to undergo rigorous training as a national swimmer and also to keep up with my academics, I learned at an early age that compromises and sacrifices were made to achieve goals. Therefore, I was not able to have pets due to fact that time did not allow me to care for them properly.
What are your career ambitions, and how do you plan to realise them?
Having worked in the tax department of Ernst & Young, an international accounting firm (one of the Big Four firms) for the past four years, my love for taxation has certainly been discovered. However, as this is all that I know in the accounting world, I have opted to spend some time in the auditing department, thereby not closing the door to other avenues.
Although eager to expand my accounting knowledge, my short stint in the tax department has me wanting to further my career in taxation. I hope to return to the UK to pursue a Master's degree in international taxation law. In addition, I will attempt to use my position as Miss Trinidad and Tobago, an Ambassador for my country, to influence positive change and a new way of thinking.
What jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/unusual?
From a sales clerk in a CD kiosk, to a maitre'd in a popular Italian restaurant to modelling and accounting, I think that the most unusual will have to be modelling. Although seen as a hobby, it is also a job.
Modelling in a swimsuit, wearing heels in the middle of a field, constantly being under a microscope, crazy backstage and behind-the-scene preparations; what could be more interesting than this?
It's amazing to see what is produced from a photo session, often times I cannot believe that it's me that I see in the picture. It's interesting how composed models look when brought on stage after being dressed in a very frenzied scene that exists backstage at all fashion shows.
The glitz, the glamour, the friendships, the fun and laughter make it all worth it in the end. Modelling allows the confidence to be boosted and womanhood to be praised, recognising her strength and knowing that a beautiful face isn't all it takes!
What is the proudest moment of your life (not including winning your national title)?
At the age of 11, I was selected to represent my country in swimming. I was part of a four-man relay, which holds a record to this day as it was the last year at which that particular age group was allowed to participate in those games.
It is always self-fulfilling when you achieve something that you have dedicated yourself to, sacrificing, giving your all--body, soul and mind.
If you had a personal motto, what would it be?
If you conceive it and you believe it; then you can achieve it.
Any other interesting facts?
I am a certified accountant that models, which is odd in a world where accountants are known to lead very conservative lives. I completed my ACCA whilst working.
In school, I belonged to the Legion of Mary, visiting various orphanages and trying to bring joy to those less fortunate, especially at Christmas time.
Like Miss World, I hope to bring a new meaning to the term "beauty queen" as a woman who exudes confidence, strength and faith. Maintaining her exterior whilst continuously working on her interior, developing the body, soul and mind everyday. Athletic, poised, intelligent, strong, funny and confident are words that have been used to describe me. I always strive to be the epitome of a true modern woman.

Miss Seamiline Beauty Queen During my daily scan of news, I came across some interesting photos (here) of the ‘Miss Seamiline’ Beauty Queen contest, which took place in the Israeli town of Gilo, near the West Bank town of Bethlehem, Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005. As the caption of these photos said, the beauty contest intends to promote peace between Israeli’s and Palestinians. The contest included women from the Israeli community of Gilo and the Palestinian village of Beit Jala and East Jerusalem. So far the news clip sound cool and interesting, but what caught my eyes in this photo was the background. Here you see an Israeli soldier and her boyfriend share a moment of passion! But that’s not what matters. The contrast I see in this photo is so ridiculous fact that the Israeli soldier is carrying her automatic machine gun, in an event to promote peace. Sounds funny to me! www.herfactor.comIraqi-American filmmaker and actress Yasmine Hannaney will represent Iraq in the Miss Asia USA Pageant to counter common misconceptions about Iraqis.

THE WHOLE FILIPINO NATION AND THE WHOLE REGION OF THE FAR EAST ARE HUNGRY FOR OUR FIRST-EVER MISS WORLD CROWN !!! THIS IS FOR THE PHILIPPINES AND TO THE WHOLE ASIAN REGION !!! The Philippines has never won the Miss World crown. It nearly won in 1973 when Evangeline Pascual placed second to USA's Marjorie Wallace, much to the dismay of many Filipino pageant fans who thought that the jury had selected the wrong winner. Wallace was dethroned just under four months into her reign, deemed as having failed to live up to the "queenly image" of the position. Will Carlene Aguilar vindicate Pascual's loss to Wallace thirty-two years ago?
- No Far East Asian beauty has ever been crowned Miss World.

Miss Philippines' CARLENE AGUILAR (on the Right) during the dress rehearsal for tomorrow's Coronation Night.
From Beauty World Cup Website !!!
Philippines, is no doubt, at the least will be declared Miss World Asia Pacific not only because of massive Filipino text votes but because the world is rooting for her to win, Filipinos and NON-FILIPINOS alike. Carlene is worthy of the world's vote because this Filipina is a "stand-out" beauty that makes her popular as the days go by. She is perfect to represent women around the world, not only because she speaks fluent English and Chinese (2 most spoken languages in the world) but because she is an epitome of beauty that shines from within, very charismatic, confident, free-spirited, and sexy. THE WORLD WANTS HER TO BE MISS WORLD THIS YEAR!!!Please come back again tomorrow for our final analysis--our choice for Miss World Asia Pacific, Miss World Northern Europe, Miss World Southern Europe, Miss World Americas, Miss World Africa, Miss World Caribbean and the ultimate Miss World 2005! (I guess you already knew our choice for the crown, don't blame me it's not a difficult choice, it's really an overwhelming observation.)
TO CARLENE: You've done your very best, filipinos all over the whole world have done their very best too, now it is ALL IN GOD'S HANDS. Whatever is HIS WILL for you, may it come to pass Saturday. "WITH HIM, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE." (from Heimlich)

MISS WORLD 2005 UPDATED ASSESSMENT 11/17 -- GLOBALBEAUTIES.COM, 16:11:26 11/16/05 Wed [1]
From GLOBALBEAUTIES.COM (updated 11/17)
WORLD BEAUTY BET - 11/17
Passed the "Photoshop effect", in the last few days our judges had the chance to see the Miss World contestants in the first published casual photos in China, and many have changed their minds, which resulted in new lists of favorites. Let's see who they believe are the hottest possibilities in each region:
ASIA PACIFIC:
WINNER: PHILIPPINES
2nd Choice: CHINA
Close shots: India, Sri Lanka, Australia
Dark horses: Japan, Singapore
Miss Philippines remains the hottest bet in Asia Pacific and the world, 'the one to beat', in the opinion of most pageant observers and betting houses. In Asia she is followed by the home-town girl, Miss P.R. of China. Miss India is at the region's door step for a spot, followed by beautiful Miss Sri Lanka, who has been gaining popularity by the minute with her stunning face and radiant smile.
- * -
NORTHERN EUROPE :
WINNER: ICELAND
2nd Choice: RUSSIA
Close shots: England, Norway, Switzerland
Dark horses: Ireland, Poland
The more people see of Miss Iceland, the more they like her. A refreshing beauty with a naive sensuality, she is among this year's strongest contenders. Miss Russia is now 2nd in this very competitive region, closely followed by Miss England, an exotic beauty who has everything to shine in this year's pageant.
- * -
SOUTHERN EUROPE :
WINNER: ITALY
2nd Choice: SPAIN
Close shots: Albania, Slovakia, Bulgaria
Dark horses: Slovenia, Lebanon
Italy still reigns in Southern Europe in the opinion of those covering the pageant. It is strongly believed that she could become her country's first Miss World and grand slam winner. Miss Spain though, has lived up to her admirers expectations, and is pretty much alive in the contest. Slovakia, Bulgaria and Slovenia have all been gaining ground, and are ready to pull a surprise.
- * -
AFRICA:
WINNER: NAMIBIA
2nd Choice: SOUTH AFRICA
Close shots: Nigeria, Ethiopia, Botswana
Dark horses: Zambia, Angola
Namibia still 'reigns supreme' in the African continent, where South Africa is the second choice to advance to the semi-finals. Miss Nigeria has been getting some positive reviews and is now considered another strong possibility in her region.
- * -
CARIBBEAN:
WINNER: PUERTO RICO
2nd Choice: MARTINIQUE
Close shots: Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica
Dark horses: St. Lucia, Barbados
The Caribbean has 4 very strong candidates, all very popular among our experts. Leading the bunch is Miss Puerto Rico, who actually gained even more fans after her first pictures were released. Amazingly gorgeous, she is one of the favorites for the crown. Ready to ruin her chances are striking Martinique, sweet Dominican Republic and sexy Trinidad & Tobago.
- * -
AMERICAS:
WINNER: COSTA RICA
2nd Choice: BRAZIL
Close shots: Venezuela, Canada, Mexico
Dark horses: Peru, Bolivia
In the Americas many have been the changes after the delegates' arrival in China. Costa Rica now leads the bets in the "New World", followed by a South American beauty whose natural beauty and great body are impressing the Chinese and the world: Miss Brazil. Miss Venezuela is also very strong, now in 3rd place. The two countries which were on the top of the list last week, Canada and Mexico, are now 4th and 5th, respectively. If logic applies, these 5 countries will be disputing the Americas' two spots in the semifinals. Peru and Bolivia come next far behind, and most other delegates haven't even been mentioned.

WHO WILL BE MISS WORLD 2005?
Among our experts' 6 continental choices, their current choice for the crown is Miss PHILIPPINES. Miss ITALY is 2nd and Misses ICELAND and PUERTO RICO are tied in 3rd place.

MISS WORLD 2005 - PHILIPPINES -- LOTLOT, 21:09:56 11/15/05 Tue [1]
NOVEMBER 15, 2005
The Government of Sanya organized a grand welcoming dinner for the 104 contestants of the 55th Miss World pageant last Sunday evening.
The magnificent event took place at the Yalong Bay Mangrove Tree Resort, where special guests and the press could witness -once again- the beauty of these accomplished women.
Miss World's President Julia Morley once again thanked the authorities of Sanya for their support in organizing the contest, and officially welcomed the contestants for a once in a lifetime experience.
The most applauded delegates of the night were China PR (Ting Ting Zhuo) and PHILIPPINES (Carlene Aguilar) who dazzled the photographers by modeling a very peculiar outfit.
All delegates were introduced on stage before having dinner. Then, they were invited to join dancers on stage for bamboo dancing -an art that requires amazing reflex-.
The evening ended with a spectacular display of fireworks.

MBO acquires Miss World franchise! -- MBO, 13:42:25 08/31/05 Wed [1]
PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release
Miss Bahamas Organization Acquires Miss World Franchise; Suitable Candidate Being Sought To Represent The Bahamas at International Event
Nassau, Bahamas (MBO) August 31, 2005 -- The Miss Bahamas Organization® has been selected by the Miss World Organization Ltd. to be its licensed pageant system in The Bahamas. As a result of this new partnership, winners of MBO’s Miss Bahamas Pageants will compete at the prestigious international beauty competition.
Just days after announcing its launch, executives of the Miss Bahamas Organization® were once again before the media today, this time announcing MBO’s acquisition of the coveted Miss World franchise. The Miss World Organization Ltd. has chosen MBO to become the exclusive licensee allowed to conduct a contest to select a representative who will represent The Bahamas in the Miss World contest. The decision was made after Miss World executives read about MBO’s launch on the internet. “Apparently, they had been searching for a suitable representative in The Bahamas for some time,” says MBO President Michelle Malcolm. “However, it wasn’t until reading about us and recognizing what a solid foundation MBO has that they decided to extend the invitation.”
Prior to now, the Miss World franchise was held in The Bahamas by the Grand Bahama based Miss Bahamas Company Ltd., which acquired the franchise back in 1998. However, the company has not held a pageant for a number of years. In spite of this, MBO did not pursue the Miss World franchise because it was thought to be unavailable. “We were pleasantly surprised to receive an email from the Miss World Organization exactly one week after our launch, saying they wanted to know more about us,” says Malcolm. “We immediately responded and the rest, as they say, is history,” she concludes.
Birthed in 1951 by the late Eric Morley, the Miss World competition is today one of the world’s biggest and most loved events. With more than 140 licensees around the world, it attracts more than a hundred beauty queens each year. It is also one of Great Britain’s biggest generators of money for children’s charities, having now raised an incredible £100,000,000, thanks to its theme “Beauty with a Purpose” that was created by Julia Morley 25 years ago. This incredible success is largely because of the extremely strong and popular Miss World brand that has developed over the last 53 years. This year’s Miss World pageant will be held in Sanya, China in December.
Suitable young women between the ages of 17 and 24 are being sought to compete in a private screening for the opportunity to represent The Bahamas in this year’s Miss World competition. Entrants should be beautiful in form and face, graceful, intelligent and charming, while possessing poise, a pleasing character, and high moral convictions. Candidates must be single, must not have children, nor have ever been pregnant or given birth. Minimum height requirement is 5’ 5” and maximum height requirement is 6’ 2”. Weight must be proportionate to height. Candidates should be of Bahamian ancestry, or citizens of The Bahamas, and hold a Bahamian passport. The Miss Bahamas Organization® reserves the right to refuse an application or dismiss a contestant, using the Organization’s codes and regulations as the basis for its decision. Applicant must submit a headshot and a full body shot of her own choice for review with her application. This may be used for publicity purposes and for web/press releases. Photos may be emailed to missbahamasorg@aim.com or sent via the Bahamas Postal Service to:

Two Thumbs Up!! -- Jomib, 17:18:26 06/14/05 Tue [1]
Congrats to Nada Yearwood. You've truly represented Barbados well. Love the prelim presentations - dynamite swimsuit, excellent gown and I don't doubt you were creditable in interviews as well.
Sitka graduated with honors in the University Rhode Island School Design. She was the first Peruvian designer in winning the maximum reward “NEW STAR IN FASHION” in the Fashion Week of the America.
The possibilities for Top 15 -- Jomib, 20:06:46 05/22/05 Sun [1]
I wouldn't mind seeing these ladies among the final 15:
Barbados (of course), Antigua & Barbuda (flawless), Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela (very pretty), Curacao, India (excellent interview and looked better on video than in still photos), Albania, Latvia, Phillipines, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Norway (winsome), Colombia.
Other options: Mexico (lovely), Indonesia, Canada, USA, Greece, Germany, Croatia (charming), T&T, Egypt, Lebanon, Netherlands. Unfortunately I can't decide which other European blonde I like enough to support in the 15
South Africa, Japan and Australia had been my earliest choices but I'm not so keen on them now, although I think South Africa could still get the call.
Nada, you're looking great in every photo. Keep it up and continue to enjoy yourself. Thought you looked rather tired in that video but with every image since then you've looked absolutely vivacious.
Leave nothing to chance and wear that Bellamy & Co. gown at the preliminaries and work it like it's never been worked before (but don't exaggerate your performance). No guarantees your name will be called in the 15.

Where are the Bajans on this board anyway? What do you think of the 2004 queens? Am I the only one who thinks that Miss World's dress is her most impressive feature?
Brazil looks quite good. Not the most flattering image of Jennifer or Yeimy.
What are Bajans thinking of international beauties? Do we want more of the Miss World type winning international pageants because that's the look fans like?

Nada has What it takes -- Kerry by moonlight, 13:18:38 12/10/04 Fri [1]
I am sooooo proud to see that Barbados has finally got its own Miss Barbados site. I believe the Miss Barbados Universe delegate for 2005 is really pretty and can go a long way. However, funny enough, I came across one of those temporary website after searching for some totally unrelated information, and was stunned by what the site had to say about the Barbadian delegates sent to the Miss Universe and Miss World Pageants. I don't know if the site was ligit or not but they said that while in recent years Barbados has sent "very stong candidates" where facial beauty is concerned, they did not reveal a "warm, outgoing sincere" personality. Additionally, the site continued by saying that the Bajan girls relied too heavily on "Synthetic hair" and that "during the prliminary photo/judging sessions, they usually did not employ a range of hairstyles as a means of showing a range of "faces" or "looks". They drew direct reference to Nadia Forte of 2003, and outlined that this candidate in particular virtually wore her hair "flipped up at the back of the head" for almost all her preliminary photos.
Still, one positive aspect that was highlighted about the Bajan delegates was that they have suddenly emerged as "some of the most trendiest girls in international pageants where fashion is concerned" but usually fell down in the area of evening gowns. They lamented the fact that the colours of the gowns - usually red or blue - did not
add anything to their presence on stage. The site stressed that where "dark skinned" contestants are concerned, pristine white should always be employed. And if that wasn't all, the temporary site also said that they was not a decent portfolio of photos of the Barbadian delegates on the internet, and that a lack of variety was also lacking in the photos.e.g. no available photos of contestants in swimwear, or in gowns. I , literally, was very surprised and stunned by this information. I don't know whether or not the organizers of the Miss Barbados Pageant came into contact with it, but I hope that they do and that they really make the necessary adjustments.
