Ms. Earth Private Party @ Nuvo Nov 2, '07 6:10 AM

Caught up with some of the girls who were at the iL Ponticello party in a private party sponsored by Lafarge Cement and Nuvo. The group has split into several teams with almost 30 girls in Vietnam, another team in Caliraya and one more in Dagupan.

I finally saw Lorraine Schuck, EVP of Carousel Productions, the organizer of the Ms. Earth beauty pageant. The last time we chatted was during the talent night of the Ms. Philippines - Earth 2007 in Greenhills. She's been very busy but still looked fab!

Konrad Ong came with his skull-encased 580 EX flash, which was a hit among the Asian candidates, who had their halloween-inspired shots taken. Chi Busque came with his usual bubbly, sexytime attitude and was giving the girls photography lessons in one corner of Nuvo!

I finally met Margot Sevilla, fab and impeccable make-up artist, stylist, photographer all rolled into one bundle of an amazing woman.

Dani Sevilla was there too, dressed in a flattering, red devilish outfit. She's a regular headturner, eyecatcher, heartstopper kind of girl.

Louie Ysmael was his usual cool self, making sure everything was running smoothly and that all guests were comfortable.

Atom Henares came and chatted with Louie and Lorraine and had photos with the candidates.

My new friend, the amazing Thomas, he who promised me that he will conquer Philippine movies (I think he said "take-over"), was in one long table with his friends . . . I think Tony and Adam, plus their partners . . . one dressed as an angel in white, the other, a devil in red.

Cassandra Schuck was seated with Lorraine's group. I saw some familiar faces from Ms. Earth Philippines 2007: Ms. Air - Krystle Ann Dizon, very sweet face; and Ms. Water - Joyce Nocomura, who was very coy about who she was . . . naughty, naughty Joyce!

The girls had a long day. Ms.Wales, Sarah Fleming, told me she just slept 3 hours the previous night. She looked lethargic and I did not see her dance. Ms. Latvia, iLze Jankovska, looked liked she slept for a week! She was fresh and vibrant, always smiling and danced the night away! I have a lot of headshots of Ms. Thailand, Jiraporn Sing-ieam, since I found her very playful and approachable. Ms. Iceland, Katrin Sigurdardottir, seated herself together with the Asian candidates and was as playful and the resf of them.

30 ladies with the most stunning figures paraded before a special panel of judges during the Miss Earth 2007 Final Swimsuit Competition held in Camarines Sur. Watch the video clip after the jump. The final 5 of the swimsuit competition are Miss Bolivia, Miss Ecuador, Miss Guatemala, Miss Kazakhstan, and Miss US Virgin Islands. The candidate who will be adjudged Best in Swimsuit will be announced during the grand coronation night.

Environmental concerns drive beauties (Philippine Daily Inquirer)

PILI, CAMARINES SUR -- Five beauty queens from four continents vying for the Miss Earth crown find higher cause in joining a pageant to raise people’s awareness of the environment, the degradation of which they are witness to in their own countries.

Zhazira Nurkhodjaera is from a city called Semipalatinsk in Kazakhstan in Central Asia where the average life span is 50 years.

Describing the place as far and isolated, Nurkhodjaera said the Russians conducted underground nuclear bomb tests there until 1991 when the Soviet Union crumbled.

“I have seen many babies with abnormalities, with no hands and feet,” she said.

Nuclear test

Nurkhodjaera, who cannot speak the Kazakh language but Russian and English, joined the pageant to get the message out about what happened to her people and their environment.

“Nuclear testing must be stopped,” she said.

Beyond the beauty pageant, Àine (pronounced En-ya) Gormley said she would continue her study on water pollution, the first part of which she has published.

Gormley has a degree in environmental science and is in her final year of doctoral studies on water pollution at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.

She said where she’s from fresh water sources are in grave risk of toxic contamination because the algae is dwindling.

Desertification

In Africa, Millicent Olyn concerns herself with awareness campaigns on the causes and prevention of desertification.

She said she appears in talk shows and before school kids to tell them about the indiscriminate cutting of trees and bad practices that hasten desertification.

“Our country is big with only 1.8 million inhabitants but 58 percent of it is the Kalahari Desert while 38 percent is classified reserve and only 12 percent built-up areas and agricultural farms,” she said.

Olyn lives in Iwaneng Town in Botswana where she promotes proper garbage disposal because communities there have to be taught proper sanitation.

Norwegian Margaret Paulin Hauge fears a future without snow in winter if the depletion of the ozone layer is not stopped.

Hauge, whose mother is from Davao City, said they missed the snow in Norway last winter because of the warm temperatures; it rained instead.

“Our country has been known for its four seasons and winter is very important to us. People come to our place to enjoy the winter holiday,” she said.

Veronica Ochoa is from Ciudad (city) Cuenca in Ecuador which, she said, is very clean and where one can drink the water, but the issue of “calentamiento global” or global warming has moved her.

“One can actually do simple things like turning off lights and the refrigerator when not in use, dispose of garbage properly and recycle,” she said, adding that she shares this information with students in Cuenca.

The young women were at the Camsur Watersports Complex here over the weekend to shoot the swimsuit competition of the pageant produced by Carousel Productions Inc.

Peachy O. Veneracion, Carousel vice president and project director, said the pageant is a totally Filipino production that now has candidates from 85 countries, up from 43 when it started seven years ago. The finals is on Nov. 11 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City

Nha Trang welcomes Miss Earth contestants

Beautiful women from 30 different countries arrived in the coastal city of Nha Trang yesterday afternoon to compete for the Miss Earth 2007 crown, held in Vietnam for the first time.

Nha Trang's Cam Ranh Airport was crowded with organisers, reporters, onlookers and police in the afternoon as the international beauty contestants hit the ground.

As the convoy left the airport, they were flanked by colorful signs welcoming visitors for the Miss Earth 2007 competition.

As Miss Peru Odilia Garcia left the airport she praised the hospitality of the Vietnamese.

While admitting that she was tired after a long journey, Odilia said that she was in high spirits for the upcoming competition.

After traveling the 30 km from Cam Ranh Airport to the contest venue at Vinpearl Land, Miss Australia Victoria Stewart expressed her awe of the beautiful landscape of the region.

Asked her feeling about the local environment, another beauty commented, “Like any other countries, Vietnam needs to care for its environment. With such a beautiful beach, there's lots of work to do to keep the city and beaches clean.”

The beauty contestants had little time to rest after arriving at Vinpearl Land before the press briefing which was scheduled at 5 p.m.

At the press conference and welcoming ceremony, chairman of the Philippines-based Carousel Production Inc., Ramon S. Monzon expressed his gratitude to the local organisers, namely Thanh Nien Newspaper, Elite Vietnam and the Vinpearl Company.

Monzon said he was proud that Miss Earth had grown since its inception in 2001 to become one of the world's three most prestigious pageants.

He went on to say that the Miss Earth competition had given a platform to beautiful young women interested in making a difference in global conservation efforts.

Candidates share their views. At the press briefing, 30 candidates came to the stage one at a time to express their viewpoints about the pageant and its mission of promoting environmental conservation.

Onlookers were particularly impressed by Miss Australia Victoria Stewart’s speech when she stated emphatically, “I would like to send a message: We all need to take action and take care of the environment. We must protect future generations!”

While Canadian representative Jessica Trisko focused on starting grassroots environmental education with children around the world, the Czech delegate focused attention on cooperative efforts and consensus building among nations.

Miss Ukraine Galyna Andreeva claimed that today more and more people approve of the global conservation effort, and added that the Miss Earth pageant woudl not only help publicize this issue, but highlight the host country Vietnam to a world audience.

Hectic schedule.The pageant participants have a busy schedule before the contest.

They took part in environment protection activities this morning by planting trees and picking up rubbish around Nha Trang Beach.

In the afternoon they interacted with underprivileged children and gave gifts to them.

In the evening they will attend an extravagant gala dinner where admirers and audience members will have the opportunity to meet them and take their picture.

Of the five portions of the contest, one features a local flavour. The beauty contestants will each be judged in a segment where they are wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai.

Thirty stunning Miss Earth candidates left Manila at 5:30am for a 4 days trip to Vietnam. Accompanied by Carousel staff headed by VP for External Affair Ms. Jojie Felix Velarde and ABS CBN TV crews, the ladies will compete for various special awards to be given out during a show especially prepared for the Vietnamese audience. Part of their show is the parade of beauties in their National Costume to the tune of Miss Earth theme song in a special cheoreograph number. Also the ladies will dance with Michael Jackson's "Wanna be Startin' Something" while showcasing their voluptous figures in their swimsuits. There will be also a long gown segment with the ladies wearing gowns of their own choices.

Vinpearl Resort in Nha Trang will be the location of the activities of the ladies. Includes on the list are Misses Brazil, Peru, Spain, USA, Germany, Sweden, Nigeria, Bahamas, Japan, Korea, China, Domincan Republic, Italy, Checz Republic, Canada,Venezuela, Vietnam and the Philipiines.

They will return to Manila on November 2 in time for the Swimisuit final competitions.

I would heartily promote a program to bring people’s attention to air pollution and the diverse consequences it has on Mother Earth. Scientific consensus is that we are causing global warming. Since I believe that this is more of a moral issue than political, informing and educating people is significant.The nature in Iceland is the main reason for most tourists to visit my country. The Teltonical plate boundaries go through Iceland making the country very volcanically active and the geology diverse.

As a working and studying woman of this world I want to make the earth a better place to live. Not only for this but also for the future generations of all the living creatures. I realise that this goal is hard to accomplish however, everyone can do something within his or her own power. My power is that I have my bachelor degree and I am working for my master’s degree at the moment. I study Law and Crime at the famous university of Leiden. I also work for the union FNV, that is an organisation that supports international projects and has international contacts. I want to combine the worlds of the science(the university) and the union into one project, that will create awareness and will be good for the environment and for the people. I am thinking of a fair trade project. But first I want to talk with all the participants, especially with the people we are talking about. It has to be their project with support of the international organizations.
In that way I can use my womanly powers, my network and my strength: my knowledge, communication skills in different languages and involvement. The Netherlands is a small country with a real democracy, a high level of education, science, innovation and technology. For all kind of cultures it is a nice place to live. The Netherlands, as a rich country, also takes care of the international environment and people over their borders. I am very proud to live in such a country! It is possible for everyone to educate, of course also for women. I follow two universal studies. Most people think of cheese, clogs, tulips, al lot of water and dikes surrounding polders where pedigree cattle graze against the typical Dutch clouds just as they remember them in old Dutch paintings. But that is one part of the picture, there is also a world of technology, innovation and science. We invest in knowledge and research for alternative methods for energy etc. Our society is a multicultural one, since ages people came to Holland to trade or because of the freedom of mind.Of course we have also our problems. We are living with 16 million people on a small surface. Some people say that our country is full. And the Netherlands lays partly below the sea level, while the climate is changing. Will the Netherlands partly disappear in the water? In the Netherlands people are aware of this problems and their attitude is to respect and take care of the nature, the culture and of each other.There are a lot of organisations that look after the environment, but the individuals also give their contribution in keeping mother nature healthy. We cycle a lot and we have beautiful flowers and gardens. For instance the Netherlands has more bicycles than residents. Our enthusiasm for anything that grows and blooms is obvious in the amount of plants you find on the windowsills, the flower markets, the nurseries and endless number of flower shops. Besides castle gardens, you can find public gardens dating back to the 16th century. We also take care of our ancient culture. In the Netherlands it is a luxury to live near the water, there is space, quietness, free nature. We realise that in poor countries living near the water means pollution and danger. That is why The Netherlands supports projects in poor countries to save the environment and to help the people. Food, circumstances to live and to work are important. I have the honour to work for an union, the FNV, that is working on that kind of things on an international level.The problems of the environment and (poor) people are international, without borders. We have to solve the problems together. A rich country like The Netherlands works on it in a democratic way inside and outside the country. And that’s why I am proud of my country.

I will create an enviromental project concentrated on separating waste from recyclables. In my opinion, people should make more use of biomass, energy from water, sun and wind to lessen the combustion of the coal and the oil. Slovak Republic (Slovakia) is a beautiful country in the heart of Europe with beautiful mountains and scenic valleys. I am proud of the marvelous folk dances and folk songs which have accompanied me from my childhood. I love my family which is living here and i am proud that i was born in such country as Slovakia is.

Personal Note:

Netherlands and Slovak Republic will give Ukraine a run of her money. The two of them are the hottest blondes this year.

MISS PHILIPPINES - WORLD 2007

Margaret Nales Wilson, 18 years old, was born in the Philippines but raised in Saudi Arabia. She has a rich heritage having a Filipino-Spanish mother and Scottish-Irish father. Having just graduated from High School after specialising in Computer Programming (Web Design) she is intending to study law after completing her duties as Miss Philippines. Interests include: Travel, fashion sketching, interior design, acting, singing, both modern and belly dancing. She is also very active in the promotion of Filipino music; she has worked as an actress and video jockey for TV. Sporting interests are: Horse riding, swimming, tennis, volleyball and badminton. Margaret is very fond of her native food but also loves Chinese & Japanese. Her motto is: “Never take life for granted” You have to take care and share the blessings that you receive and make something meaningful out of your life as you go through each day.

Candidates of Miss Earth 2007 took a break from their hectic schedule to experience a day of fitness and wellness during the NESVITA Wellness Day held at Fitness First Fort Bonifacio.

NESVITA organized the wellness day to give the candidates an opportunity to keep up with their healthy lifestyle despite their busy schedule. NESVITA believes that achieving health and wellness is not just a priority for Filipinos but also for people around the world. People from different cultures like the Miss Earth candidates also recognize the importance of a healthy lifestyle to reap long-term health benefits.

At the NESVITA Wellness Day, Miss Earth contestants got to shape up with a free play and body jam at Fitness First. Miss Philippines NADIA LEE CIEN SHAMI, a 19 year-old Jordanian-Filipina beauty from Mindanao in Southern Philippines is this year's favorite to win the 2007 Miss International crown. She is a veteran pageant competitor. Nadia on the Miss Earth Philippines-Air title when she was 17 years old, a popular radio personality in Mindanao. She's going for the 5th Miss International title for the Philippines.

Note: There are 2 Asian countries that won the Miss International crown. Lebanon once and the Philippines 4 times (1964, 1970, 1979 and 2005)

HCM City (VNA) - Miss Earth 2006 Hil Yesenia Hernadez Escobar has charmed the Vietnamese media and people with her bright smile and amiability ever since she and two other beauties arrived in the country to promote tourism. Hil Yesenia together with Miss Earth-Water Catherine Untalan from the Philippines and Singaporean beauty Nicole Chen Lin attended the opening of the third International Tourist Exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City on Oct.

More than 100 foreign travel agencies from 29 countries worldwide have taken part in the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Exhibition 2007 (ITE HCMC 2007) which opened on October 5.

Attending the opening ceremony were tourism ministers of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and Miss Earth 2006, Hil Yesenia Escobar Hermandez from Chile.

The exhibition, themed “Discovering the Pearls of the Mekong: Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia - Three Countries One Destination”, offers domestic and foreign tourism companies opportunities to exchange and boost cooperation.

Tourism products and destinations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia are introduced during the three-day event.

Partner airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Eva Airways, Jetstar Asia, and Philippines Airlines have supported the exhibition, which is the largest of its kind with 140 booths to max out the hall capacity.

Miss Earth 2006 Hil Hermandez, Miss Water Catherine Untalan from the Philippines and Miss Singapore Nicole Chen sent a message on environmental protection and sustainable tourism development to the exhibition.

Miss Earth, Water advocate green tourism in HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – Three women who were crowned Miss Earth and Miss Water arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on October 4 at the invitation of the municipal Tourist Department and the Viettravel Company to promote green tourism.

During the four-day visit to Viet Nam, Hil Yesenia Escobar Hermandez from Chile, the reigning Miss Earth 2007, and Shn Juay Shi Yun from Singapore, who was Miss Earth 2006, will take part in tourism activities.

Miss Water 2006, Catherine Untalan of the Philippines, will join them in promoting a clean, safe environment.

They are expected to help spread information about Viet Nam’s eco-tourism activities and facilities around the world.

They attended the International Tourist Exhibition on October 5 and will visit tourism destinations of HCM City, such as Binh Tay and Ben Thanh markets, and take part in Viettravel’s culinary programme.

The three women will also speak to local people during a meeting whose theme is Let’s Protect Our Living Environment.

"Back to Back" para República Dominicana en Miss Continente Americano 2007

La representante de República Dominicana, Marianne Cruz, conquistó anoche el título de Miss Continente Americano 2007. Ella sucede a su compatriota Mía Taveras, quien ganó la corona el año pasado. La gala de elección se desarrolló en el Centro de Convenciones (antiguo aeropuerto Simón Bolívar) y fue transmitido por Gamavisión. La candidata de México, Gladys Castellanos, quedó segunda finalista y la de Venezuela, Francis Lugo, primera. Ellas, al igual que Cruz, fueron elegidas entre seis semifinalistas. Las otras tres fueron Miss Puerto Rico, Uma Blasini; Miss Brasil, Vivian Noronha; y Miss Chile, Nathali Chilet.

En el certamen, que se inició el pasado 23 de junio, intervinieron 22 reinas de belleza, quienes contaron con fanáticada propia, como las aspirantes de Colombia, Eileen Roca; y de Brasil, Vivian Noronha. La primera y segunda finalista también fueron ovacionadas por los presentes, especialmente cuando respondieron las preguntas del jurado, integrado entre otros por la esteticista Cuty Icaza y el cirujano plástico Fernando Quintana.

La ecuatoriana Lugina Cabezas consiguió la distinción de Miss Simpatía, mientras que Verónica González, Miss Costa Rica, recibió el reconocimiento de Rostro Yanbal.Las aspirantes a Miss Continente Americano desfilaron ante el público y los jueces en trajes de baño y de gala. La nota musical la pusieron el cantautor chileno Alberto Plaza y los intérpretes ecuatorianos Mirella Cessa y Fausto Miño. En la gala no estuvo el alcalde de la ciudad, Jaime Nebot, en su representación asistió Joseph Garzozi, director municipal de Turismo.(El Universal)

Riyo Mori, Miss Universo 2007 junto a Rachel Smith, Miss USA y Katie Blair, Miss Teen USA disfrutaron de un día completo en el exclusivo y exquisito NAO SPA en la Avenida Madison en la ciudad de Nueva York. La visita de las tres reinas de la Organización de Miss Universo fue reseñada por el programa de televisión "Entertainment Tonight" y "The Insider". Por otro lado Riyo Mori estuvo presente en la sección de entrenamiento de la "APICHA" (Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/Aids). Dicha organización es una sin fines de lucro y trabaja en ofrecer servicios, educación y estudios a las comunidades de Asia en la ciudad de Nueva York. Miss Universo 2007 fue calidamente bienvenida por el grupo de "APICHA", de esta forma Riyo entendió cabalmente todo lo relacionado al HIV/SIDA en la comunidad asiatica alrededor del mundo.

Miss USA Rachel Smith ayuda al programa "Best Buddies"!

Miss USA 2007 y cuarta finalista de Miss Universo 2007 Rachel Smith estuvo ayudando junto a Miss Maryland, Miss District of Columbia, Miss Virginia, Miss New York y Miss Pennsylvania a la Organización sin fines de lucro "Best Buddies" en su actividad en la localidad de Ocean City en Maryland. Best Buddies es una organización internacional, cuyo objetivo fundamental consiste en abrir caminos hacia la integración social de las personas con discapacidad cognocitiva.Trabajan para brindarles la oportunidad de establecer relaciones de amistad con personas sin discapacidad, para que así desarrollen las herramientas necesarias para integrarse a la sociedad y sostener un empleo productivo.

"Hubo decisiones muy difíciles" Osmel Souza!

Aunque fue el público quien con su votación escogió a Nuestra Belleza Latina, es bien sabido que los jurados jugaron un papel sumamente importante, pues guiaron a las chicas con sus opiniones, consejos y veredictos y de una forma justa, le mostraron a los televidentes las fortalezas y debilidades de cada una.

Osmel, ¿estás conforme con las seis finalistas y con los tres primeros lugares? Estoy complacido con las seis que quedaron.

El público votó acertadamente. Pero, si la decisión final hubiera sido mía yo hubiera votado así: Primer lugar Yara, segundo lugar Elizabeth y tercer lugar para Alejandra. ¿Por qué para ti Alejandra no era la ganadora?

Alejandra necesita trabajar su seguridad. Se desploma fácilmente. Había niñas muy seguras y bellas también. Pero, afortunadamente, esas cosas se aprenden. Es una niña muy linda.

¿Cuál fue la decisión más complicada en una eliminación? La decisión mas complicada a la que nos enfrentamos nosotros como jurado, fue cuando salió Madelis Soto. Estaban amenazadas dos niñas muy bonitas, había que sacar a una bonita. Y como ya teníamos dos puertorriqueñas en el concurso, tuvimos que sacrificar a Madelis.

Candidatas a Miss Bolivia apoyan el turismo!

Las 21 candidatas a Miss Bolivia Universo 2007 y una comitiva de 35 personas de Promociones Gloria, visitaron La Paz y realizaron una sesión fotográfica y de filmaciones en el fantástico lago Titicaca, en las ruinas de Tiwanacu y los lugares turísticos que ofrece la sede de Gobierno a los visitantes, para promover el turismo nacional. Las reinas se tomaron fotografías para la revista oficial del concurso Miss Bolivia 2007 y en los próximos días, la delegación se trasladará a la Chiquitania para continuar el trabajo fotográfico y las actividades de integración. Carlos Menem y Cecilia Bolocco rumbo al divorcio!

El ex presidente argentino Carlos Menem y su esposa, la chilena Cecilia Bolocco, iniciaron los trámites de divorcio a través de sus abogados asesores, informa hoy el diario "La Cuarta".Según el matutino, hasta ahora los trámites han caminado por buen camino, aunque faltaría determinar el régimen de visitas de Menem al hijo de ambos, Máximo, y la cifra de dinero con que el ex mandatario ayudará para su educación, alimentación y salud, entre otros. El diario, basándose en gente cercana a Cecilia, informó de que esta semana tres abogados, asesores de Menem fueron a la capital chilena para presentarle un borrador de la propuesta que esperan entregar a los tribunales argentinos para que todo quede listo antes de fin de año.

El asunto del divorcio surgió después de que se publicaran en Chile unas fotos en las que Cecilia aparece casi desnuda y en comprometedoras escenas con un amigo italiano. Las fotos, captadas en la casa que Bolocco tiene en Miami y que la muestran junto al italiano Luciano Marocchino, fueron tomadas por el paparazzo chileno Ángel Mora y publicadas en las revistas "SQP", de Chile, y "TV Notas", de EEUU. En opinión del diario "La Cuarta", aunque el ex mandatario argentino "tiene la sartén por el mango" ya que podría acusar de infidelidad a Cecilia, los asesores de Menem, como el abogado Pedro Baldi le han recomendado finiquitar el divorcio sin mayores problemas. Laura Harring no se olvida de sus origenes!

Laura Elena Martínez Harring nació un 3 de marzo de 1964 en Los Mochis en el estado de Sinaloa, vivió en México hasta los diez años y luego se trasladó a San Antonio, Texas. Después de estudiar en Suiza en el Aiglon Collage y vivir en la India donde se desempeñó como trabajadora social, regresó a Estados Unidos y en 1985 ganó el concurso Miss USA.

Acaba de finalizar el rodaje de "El amor en los tiempos del cólera", adaptación de la novela de Gabriel García Márquez del mismo título donde interpreta el papel de Sarita Noriega. Lo único malo que puede pensar de esta cinta, que para Harring es un sueño hecho realidad, es que tuvo que ganar cerca de 12 kilos para un papel en el que trabajó junto a Javier Bardem.
La condesa, ex reina y actriz que la crítica compara con Rita Hayworth o Ava Gardner recuerda su infancia y aunque la vida la ha convertido en una estrella americana, su corazón sigue siendo mexicano.

Zuleyka Rivera de lleno en la actuación!

La puertorriqueña Zuleyka Rivera fue la conductora de la gala final del Miss Continente Americano, que se realizó ayer en Guayaquil. Después de haber entregado la corona de Miss Universo, el 28 de mayo pasado, la puertorriqueña Zuleyka Rivera, quien se encuentra en el país, comentó que ha decidido incursionar en la actuación y la conducción de eventos.Y ya participó en la telenovela Dame chocolate, que se transmite por Ecuavisa. La joven, de 19 años, indica que antes de entregar la corona le pidieron que participará en la producción.

Actualmente reside en Nueva York, Estados Unidos, donde estudia actuación en el instituto New York Film Academy. Comenta que ha recibido propuestas para participar en filmes y en telenovelas mexicanas, pero aún no ha tomado una decisión. Zuleyka cree que su familia es la base fundamental de su vida. Está integrada por su padre Jerry Rivera y sus hermanos Jerry Jesús (13 años) y José Alberto (11 años). Aunque es la mayor dice que ella sigue siendo “la niña mimada” de sus papás.

Para agradecer su participación en la campaña de convocatoria del certamen Nuestra Belleza Guanajuato 2007, Televisa ofreció una comida a Carolina Fritz, Verónica Murillo, Ángela Sandoval, Wendy Ortiz, Paola González y Cristina Romo. El apoyo que brindaron las ex concursantes consistió en invitar, como cada año, a las jóvenes que viven o nacieron en el estado, a participar en el evento a través de un video que se produjo hace unos meses en la explanada de la Biblioteca Central Estatal Wigberto Jiménez Moreno.

Persiguen "vanidoso" título!

Captar las miradas mientras se contonea al caminar, conquistar con una sonrisa y poseer más que una belleza física, son los deseos de cualquiera. Éstas y otras cualidades poseen nueve jóvenes de entre 18 a 23 años que tendrán la oportunidad de representar al estado en el certamen de Nuestra Belleza Guanajuato 2007. Alejandra, Nadia, Berenice, Annel, Diana, Montserrat, Iliana, Rocío y Elisa, son las finalistas procedentes de Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Celaya, Salamanca, Silao y León que se disputan la corona.

La ciudad de Silao obtuvo la sede del concurso planeado para el miércoles 11 de julio en el parque industrial Las Colinas, donde ya están preparando todo para el evento y la posible participación de Mariana Seoane. El evento se transmitirá por canal 11 y se retransmitirá en Guadalajara, Zacatecas, Cuernavaca, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí y Aguascalientes.(Servicios Combinados)

Tracy Lee es la nueva Miss Chinese Cheong Sam 2007!

Una actriz de 21 años graduada de contabilidad y finanzas fue la ganadora del certamen de belleza de la Camara de Comercio e industria de Perak. Tracy ganó un viaje a Hong Kong, un trofeo y unos 3,000 dólares. La primera finalista lo fue la ejecutiva de cuentas Cammy Quah, de 22 años y quien recibió 2,000 dólares en efectivo y un viaje a Bangkok; La segunda finalista fue Tan Mei Leng, de 25 años y estudiante de contabilidad quien recibió 1,000 dólares en efectivo y un viaje a Phuket. Tan Mei Leng ganó tambien el título de Miss Elegancia.

El presidente de la PCCCI comentó que el motivo fundamental de celebrar el certamen de belleza fue promocionar la belleza oriental, la cultura china y la belleza de Cheong sam.

Miss Wisconsin America 2007 es Miss Madison!

La nueva Miss Wisconsin para el certamen de Miss America es Christina Thompson, quien ganó las competencias de talento y traje de baño. La estudiante de 22 años dejó a todos impresionados cuando en la competencia de talento interpretó "Praeludium & Allegro" al violin.Christina es graduada de la Universidad de Vanderbilt y luego de tres días de competencia se impuso ante 31 candidatas que luchaban por la oportunidad de representar a Wisconsin en Miss America.

Esta fue su segunda vez para lograr el cetro, ya que en el 2002 fue la tercera finalista. La primera finalista lo fue Miss Fox River Valley Michelyn Butler, una estudiante de 24 años y graduada de psicología de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison. Las restantes semi-finalistas lo fuerón Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area, Shinae Lucille Kulhanek de 19 años; Miss Western Wisconsin, Elisabeth Mary Bruzek de 24 años y Miss Eastern Shore, Michelle Marie Smukowski de 22 años quien en los últimos dos años del certamen ha quedado en la misma pocisión.

Miss Virginia America 2007 es Hannah Kiefer!

Hannah Kiefer ganó el certamen Miss Virginia America 2007, como primera finalista resultó Jessie Buckman, Miss Greater Richmond; como segunda finalista resultó Caressa Cameron, Miss Chesterfield; Leigh-Taylor Smith, Miss Arlington fue la tercera finalista y la cuarta finalista lo fue Miss Williamsburg, Nathalie Fassie.

En su autobiografia Hannah expresa su deseo de establecer una organización nacional para promover la abstinencia de drogas, sexo y alcohol entre los jovenes. De hecho Kiefer es la directora de educación en abstinencia de Virginia en el campus de Hollins.

Miss Illinois America 2007 es Ashley Hatfield!

Ashley Hatfield de la localidad de Anna, ganó la noche del sábado la corona de Miss Illinois America 2007 en el Centro Cultural de las Artes Norris en St. Charles. Hatfield cantó una hermosa canción titulada "Listen" del musical "Dreamgirls" durante la competencia de talento. Ashley había ganado ya el título de Miss Heartland y es una fiel defensora de la educación para la prevención del cáncer del seno.

Miss DuPage Chelsea Fahey de Orland Park fue la primera finalista; la segunda finalista lo fue Miss Batavia, Lisa Allen; tercera finalista resultó Megan Lyne de Lincolnshire y la cuarta finalista lo fue Meganne Britton de Chicago.

Miss Georgia America 2007 es Leah Massee!

Leah Massee, una chica de 23 años y de la localidad de Fitzgerald emergió como la ganadora del certamen Miss Georgia America 2007 celebrado en el "RiverCenter for the Performing Arts" de Columbus. La plataforma de trabajo de Massee es "Children's Miracle Network" y es una estudiante graduada de "Valdosta State University" en el área de comunicaciones. Leah fue la ganadora indiscutible de las tres noches de competencia y como ganadora recibió una beca educativa valorada en $15,000, un auto, membresía para un gimnasio, joyas y vestidos.

Miss California America 2007 es Melissa Chaty!

Una asistente de mercadeo fue coronada en la noche del sábado como la nueva Miss California America en el Teatro William Saroyan en Fresno. Melissa Chaty había competido anteriormente y justo el año pasado logró posicionarse como la cuarta finalista, en el 2005 logró ser parte del top 10 y en el 2002 no logró clasificar, pero este año Melissa ganó la corona. Chaty de 23 años es una estudiante graduada del Westmont College con un bachillerato en Psicologia. Melissa trabaja para la Organización de Alzheimer del capítulo de San Diego. Miss Sierra Nevada Cheri Gorin resultó ser la primera finalista; Miss Hollywood Kari Johnson fue la segunda finalista; Miss Southwest California Amy Yetasook resultó ser la tercera finalista y Miss Yosemite Valley Jennifer Lee quedó en cuarto lugar. Melissa ganó una beca educativa valorada en $10,000.

These videos are in region free DVD format with nice interactive menus. The shows are overall, of very good quality with respect to each ones time of production. From 1969 below are in B/W and 1970 above in colour. My prices are very good compared to market prices.
