The truth is that when people have something that feels good in the now, they will tell themselves anything as an excuse to justify it; to keep having that feeling - even though they know it has a very short shelf-life or will end terribly. I think that's why Billy in the beginning - and now the rest of AJ's grocery list of mall boys wouldn't have and will not take to any warnings about AJ ... because things seem good NOW and people, especially teenagers, tell themselves it's better to have had the 'taste' of being in 'love' and feeling like more than a blip on someone's signal than be the only person 'unhurt' but inexperienced at what is supposed to be a part of this life we live.

And OMG ... You may be onto something. It wouldn't be the first time Jimmy sabotaged a potential Billy/Brandon reunion! And he certainly has the motive when he had flipped out after Billy dumped him. Maybe Jimmy was like "If I can't have my Billy, he can't have his Brandon! Muahaha!" ...
