This is a great setup, and I'm already intrigued.

I like that Terion inspired in his son with a thirst for knowledge. That's something I can relate to, and I wish more people cared for. How can some people be so happy to soak in ignorance and not be curious about the world and the universe around them?

I noted that his father mentioned his 'girlfriend', which I took as meaning, he thinks his son is dating Tionna?
I wonder how this world reacts to same-sex love. We know they talk about it, thanks to the storyteller. But is the storyteller a radical? Or does he just like to tell tales about less common types of lovers?

I'm curious about what caught Orrin's attention at the end there? Perhaps a cute young love interest?

Love the opening chapter. Can't wait to read chapter two.
