I don't know. I think in some ways it was a productive killing spree. He found strength within himself that he didn't know he had. Granted, it was kind of forced out of him, but still. Also, no matter how terrible an act it was, Taryn must surely know, beyond all shadow of doubt, that Justin would gladly do whatever it takes to keep him safe. I'm sure he believed this before, but now I would think there is no doubt. I think Justin might've also started to learn the dire consequences of being immature and letting his emotions rule him. He's still needs some work, but I think he's probably starting to understand the magnitude of his gift.
And yeah, Soren got away. But his right-hand man is no more. His forces were pretty much destroyed. He really isn't much of a threat at the moment, at least, I would think. Unless he's the one pulling Rage's puppet strings. That would suck, but would also make sense.
In the end, I suppose, I see both sides of the same coin. On the one hand, he is an emotional teenager with an awesome gift (probably a bad combo). But on the other hand, there are strings attached, it comes with a terrible burden. The likes of which I doubt even the wisest and most learned of peoples could handle very well.
Anyway, not trying to argue, just throwing in my two cents.
