Great discussion. Back in the last century I won a few AAU Master's titles. The AAU had a rule stating that you could only win a title ONE TIME. If you were the AAU Mr NY or AAU Mr NJ, you could not enter that competition again. This was great incentive to the non-winners who knew that they had a chance to gain the title the folowing year. As you historians know this rule was instituted ~1942 to prevent John Grimek from becoming a perennial Mr America. So there is precedent to prevent athletes from dominating a particular contest. Win your title then step aside. The OCB has an interesting Pro rule. They use a female as an example. If a female qualifies and competes in a Pro Figure division she may still compete as an Amateur in Bodybuilding or Fitness. With this rule in mind, here is my question for discussion. If an athlete is a Master Pro Bodybuilder should he be allowed to compete as an amateur in the open division? If he is good enough to win an open title, why deny him the opportunity to turn "Open Pro" and compete for prize money in both "Master Pro" and "Open Pro" contests? From what I've seen of the Master Pros some would do extremely well.
