- Female Pro Question -- Female Pro Competitor, 14:03:04 11/29/08 Sat [22]
I competed in the Jersey Shore Natural back in September and was curious as to how long it typically takes for the pros to receive their checks.
After speaking with a couple other female competitors who also have not received their checks I am curious as to whether or not the women get paid or do they compete as pros for free?
Also, is it kosher to contact the promoter and ask him questions regarding this subject? Is this something that should be reported to Brian Washington?
Thank you for your time.

Halz -
Your show is April 11th. Are you aware that Easter is April 12th? I guess it's not a huge deal for most but this just seems like a difficult time...I mean...should I consider competing again in the Spring, your show would be out for me and I wonder how many others???
Thoughts?

- FREE protein!!! -- dissipatehate08, 15:34:25 11/21/08 Fri [27]
I’m writing this in hopes of potentially promoting a positive discussion, but since this is a message board, it probably won’t be a promising as it should be. I am going to rant about several issues, coherent or not, I feel like I need to do this anonymously, and I’ll get that later. I have wanted to write this for some time, and after much personal debate I’ve decided to do it.
Natural Body Building is a new to me as far as competition goes, but not as far as organized competition events. The largest portion of my rant is on the issue of the whole “natural” phenomenon. In my observations as well as others, it seems to be that everyone is natural until they get caught. In the last two years I attended several o.c.b. and u.s.b.f. shows and only one of them did a polygraph test, as well as “random” urinalysis testing. I’m not calling anyone out personally because this isn’t a personal attack, nor do I have an agenda or ulterior motive. This is more so the lack of control or oversight of who does the testing, and who is chosen to be tested. I myself did not like the polygraph testing fee’s but after all the time an expense and hard work that goes into training and dieting and being natural, its one more way to ensure that I’m not beat by some low life scumbag who calls himself natural and is not. Anyone with a little knowledge could cheat and get away it. Take for instance a guy does a test cycle for 3 months during winter and cleans up and maintains for the rest of the year to compete in the fall and pass urinalysis. Or the guy who does insulin and GH and IGF-1 all year and stops the week before the show and pees clean. I guess it’s impossible to fully weed out the cheaters. However, it really sucks knowing you could and probably have been beat by someone who was not truthful, or had the morale to just say, I’m not natural, I shouldn’t do this. But this isn’t a fairytale where people are honest. It’s a competition, so we know that’s not going to happen. I think it is probably safe to say that half the natural pros are in fact NOT natural. I’m not implying ALL, Because some of them guys have some serious genetics and several years of smart training and eating under their belt and they earned every ounce of muscle, and their pro card. But I would bet that half are on the other side of the fence. Natural is a grey area, but I’m strictly speaking about the banned substance list. My main focus is not on pros but on the whole league/leagues. This year I can say that I would bet money on some of our local “heroes” and new pros def were “assisted”. I have friends who do gear, and they talk openly about it. A couple of times they have mentioned people names they know who buy from their source that compete in our natural shows. Like I said before, not once will I mention names, but when you read this just know, that a few of you “sneaky” guys, your not so sneaky after all, and your sources, they talk, a lot! I know a major obstacle in natural competition is accurately and efficiently weeding out the cheaters. I want to invoke a controversy as well as raise some eyebrows to improving the methods of fair competition. My idea is using some of or upping the price of a league membership (ocb/usbf/nga) fee, and anyone who is registered from the year before gets tested at random at any given point in the year. I would gladly pay double what the current membership fee’s are to help get rid of the nonsense of all these hypocritical competitors. The only real problem on top my idea is the oversight of the testing, or should I say lack of. The people that test at the shows, certainly shouldn’t be the promoters or competitors, and at all costs shouldn’t be friends anyone involved in bodybuilding. Which brings my last and final point, at the last two fall seasons of northeast shows’, they test the winners, correct? Or, if I am not mistaken a percentage at “random”. Well those people should definitely be announced if it’s random no one potentially at guilt so that throws the embarrassment argument I don’t know about you, but I have never heard of any failures in the testing or even period seeing test results. As much as I would like to believe all past winners were natural, you know that’s not the case. If 25% of the general population in the u.s.a. uses illegal drugs, or drugs illegally, you know that body builders are NOT exempt from that statistic. I’m just using numbers, but I doubt that I am far off from the mark. It is in my personal opinion, and that’s all it is, a opinion, that ALL the drug testing results should be posted. If you fail, you deserve every bit of harassment, and embarrassment associated with the public’s knowledge of your cheating. I can’t believe that just in the short time I’ve observed this particular organization (bodybuilding….in general) I have not seen or heard of anyone failing. As much as I am stirring up controversial subjects and seem to just be dissing bodybuilding, I love competing, and I love the people I met, but I want do what I can to improve this and make it more fair, and more enjoyable. Let’s try and use my rant as a way to improve not just hate back on me. Some of my opinions will offend you, but, I am just observing, and commenting on what I’ve seen.
There are many flaws in our shared love for bodybuilding, and I only hope we can make this much better for everyone. I am sick of the bodybuilding communities’ apathy on several issues which, with a little creativity, could be vastly improved. However, I’ll post these discussion/opinions/observations later down the road. Lets see if a forum can be used to improve rather hate, and criticize.

- NPC Nationals Atlanta GA -- Kent Bierly, 08:48:30 11/21/08 Fri [21]
Wow, so here I am in Atlanta waiting to compete in the biggest amatuer show there is, the NPC Nationals. Juice or no juice this is why I do this. I want to go head to head with what I consider the best. If I can pull out a top 5 that would be awesome, top ten would be cool, hell, I would even take top half in my class. But, for those of you that know me, you know that I will be squeezing every ounce i got to go for the win. Each class is stacked with talent from all over the country. My class, welterweight, has 28 on the prelim list. It is going to be crazy. The greatest part is when I'm done i can sit back and enjoy the big boys going at it. Meeting is at 5pm then prejudging starts after the womens bbding. I think I have a long night ahead. Weigh in for me was this morning and i weighed in at 163. By the time i hit the stage my weight should be somewhere around 168-170. I have done my part for now so we will see what happens later. I will try to make the naturals proud. Time for a nap. i will check in later.
Kent

What a lineup -- halzman, 05:19:43 11/10/08 Mon [21]
Hey I bring my best I could possibly bring for 2008. Still I barley hung on for the top five. What a solid lineup. It was great to see everyone bring their best shape yet.Yes the lights sucked which made me want to choke the custodian who would not adjust them. I know how schools work thats why I dont use them anymore. Some schools will work with you.Brian just seems to have the worst luck.
Kent congrats! The King still has a crap load left for 2008.One more brother!I actually thought Damon might have pulled out the big one.Dude was crisp!Rico ....need I say more. Mofo is a freak!Joe F surprised everyone in that place.I will predict that this 26 year old will win that show in the next two years.Chadwick ,Wil and the rest of the crew looked outstanding. This is why they call it pro.Great competitors that always bring it every show. They did not disappoint.
That's it for me till fall 2009.I am so happy the way my years went.I hope the other pros felt the same way about their year.
GET READY FOR THE MEGA EVENT ON APRIL 11TH

Steve -
I know this old news and if I could contact you directly I would have so I left my e-mail instead. Anyway, can you send me or figure out a way to get me any pics or video you might have of the 11/4 show in SYR? I recall you saying you had something. I have virtually no pics from that show and I would like to see what I looked like. If that's the best I ever looked, I would like to know what that looks like so I can get better once I am done running. This would be a huge help!
To the rest of you guys, I have learned to read and not post! I am making improvements! LOL...
I hope you are all well.
