Hi Vickie,

I know its a very scary time for you right now and I know what exactly how you are feeling.
I had a Radical Vulvectomy in 2001 and I was awake for this surgery as I am terrified of general and seeing's as you have had a spinal before I don't see why you cannot have one for your up and coming surgery. The Radical was my 3rd spinal for surgery.

You will find it is usually the Consultant who has a problem with you being awake and not the Anaethetist, well this is how it works in the UK and it will probable be the same in the US, there must be a way you can meet with the anaesthetist and explain how you are feeling.

As Karen says joining the group will help you and the Ladies who have been through this surgery already will be happy to help and share their experiences.

Take care and I wish you luck with getting an appointment with the anaesthetist.
Love
Carol
