We have a school dress we need to sell - moved to a different city where there is no Mullane :( We bought new last year for Oireachtas, and has only been worn a half-dozen times, if that. We have the dress, cape, crown and bloomers. Never received the collar. I can bring the dress to the Quad Cities this weekend and have it delivered to anyone in Chicago who might need it. Asking $500.

We have used L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee (that is how it is spelled) with good results. I applied at night before bedtime and Colleen's legs were tan in the morning. It went on very easy and did not splotch up on her legs. I got mine at Walgreen's (Devon/Talcott) but it was the last one. SEE YOU IN CANADA!!

Total agreement with the other posts!! T2R was wonderful. When people ask me about the Mullane Academy, I tell them everyone dances, from the tiniest tot, to the World Championship contenders, and that's how it should be! Girls (and boys!) just wanna have fun!

Way back when, May 6 was talked about for a recital date. Is it likely that anything will happen then? Being 2 weeks away and no word seems like it's a no. Some parents were chatting yesterday at dance and thought that if that seemed like too much of a push for Shannon/Mike to put together that quickly and since some people have already made other plans not thinking it was going to happen - maybe dong it Sunday after Family Feis would be an option?? Would be a nice way to cap the weekend and wouldn't warrant an extra trip out. Also would make for a long weekend for you all, too we know ... just a thought. We'd be really sad to not have a recital again this year.

Information for the upcoming Mullane Irish Dance Academy Family Feis weekend is now available on the website and will be distributed at class this week. This year we have many new and fun events planned for the weekend. Here is just a sample of what's in store for this great weekend:

Premiere Crystal Dance-off.
In order to better prepare all of our competitive dancers for future Preliminary Championships and the Oireachtas – competitive dancers in Advanced Beginners, Novice, and Prizewinners can choose to enter an additional competition (in addition to their solo dance competitions) that will be judged by all three adjudicators. Dancers will perform two at a time: two steps of the light shoe (reel or slip-jig) and two hard shoe steps (hornpipe or treble jig). Registration is $10 and will be taken at the Feis on the day. A perpetual Crystal trophy will be awarded in each dance category.

Tot and Beginner “Tir na Nog” Workshop
For most of our new Tot and Beginner dancers, the Feis is usually their first time on stage for a competition event. The teaching staff will host a “Tir na Nog” workshop for these future champions prior to their start time. The intent is to relieve any anxieties and prepare them for the Feis. The staff will show them how to prepare for the stage, go over their stretching exercises, review their steps, and answer any questions that they have.

This year, the Feis day will conclude with a Treble Reel Competition. Dancers are welcome to create and choreograph their own step or use one of the steps that they have learned in class.

American Idol – Mully Style - The After Feis Party this year will have an added touch with “American Idol” Mully Style. Our dancers will turn into singers as they perform Karaoke songs in front of a crowd of hundreds and three scrutinizing surprise judges. See who might actually be more critical Simon Cowell or Mike Mullane.

Simon Says Dance Off
Before the night concludes, all dancers will be welcomed to take to the big stage for a Simon Says Dance Off. A trophy will be awarded to the dancer who listens and follows Simon the best.

Brendan was recalled and placed 13th at the World Championships in Glasgow Scotland. There were over 50 of the Worlds best dancers in the competition. Congrats !!!

If anyone is attending the Nationals over the 4th of July weekend, try going on expedia.com. I had some luck with lower flight rates and was able to get into one of the hotels very close to the convention center that was sold out through the Nationals website. I do apologize for the typo on the date for the Irish Children's Fund at the White Eagle. The date for this show is March 31st. All dancers listed for the show on the 23rd are able to dance on the 31st at the White Eagle. Sorry for any confusion.
