The Halloween Feis, 2008, will be held at the McCook Athletic Exposition Center, in McCook, IL, on Saturday, October 25, 2008.

Last year the Halloween Feis, proved to be a fun day for all dancers, siblings, and their parents, as the lead up to the Oireachtas can be very stressful time for many dancers and their parents. The feis offered a day where all those worries and concerns disappeared, and the children enjoyed Irish dance to the full.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend in costume, as will the adjudicators and musicians. For each treble reel competition there will be an additional prize awarded for the best Halloween costume. All treble reel proceeds will be donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation.

This year for all Preliminary and Open Championship competitions we will be using the same scoring system used at the Oireachtas, and each dancer will be adjudicated by NINE adjudicators, and everyone will be given the opportunity to dance their open set dance. Currently only 20 spots left for PC/OC.

We have booked twelve out of state adjudicators, and seven very accomplished musicians.

The feis will start of with a Halloween Parade at 8am, and throughout the day fun Halloween games and activities will be offered to feis participants.

Event fee includes unlimited admission, parking, program, email results and indicidual PC/OC results distributed the same day.

Results will also be texted to your cell phone

Registration is being accepted via http://efeis.com and additional information can be found at http://www.halloweenfeis.com

Come join the FUN - this is a great event for all ages and levels - from games and costume attire to the UNIQUE opportunity for PC/C competitors to dance before 9 judges shortly before the Oireachtas !!!

We look forward to seeing you all at the Halloween Feis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer and are looking forward to returning back to dance class. Just a note for our Edison Park and Gaelic Park dancers - classes are opening earlier then in the past years. The schedule is up on the website and was emailed to the addresses we had - we will be mailing it as well to those without email addresses.

We renamed a few levels this year to offer more balanced classes - so if you have any questions - please don't hesitate to ask - as that is what we are here for.

We have a great year planned - more social events for our families, more fun for the dancers, more opportunities for performances and parades, competitions, and a great balance of new steps, material, and teamwork for all dancers.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you are unsure of the schedule or need help in placing your dancer in the proper class.

Thanks - and we look forward to a great year.

Dear Friends,

Lake Tour Bike Trek - "TEAM BARBIE"

On June 13 & 14, 2008, I will be one of 300 cyclists who will ride 100 miles in order to raise money for the American Lung Association of Illinois - Greater Chicago.

I will be part of "Team Barbie", riding alongside team mate Betsy Fagan-Cammarata(sister to Kathy Fagan-Dale and aunt to Nathan, Justin Christian and Katherine Dale(all students of MHoB)). On May 19, 2008, Betsy and Kathy, lost their mother, Barbara Fagan, in her battle with lung cancer. Her diagnosis earlier this year was a total shock for the family, particularly because she never smoked. In fact, she was pretty much the model for clean living, in addition to being a kind and gentle soul who always took time to show you how much she cared. This just proves that lung disease strikes all kinds of people, not just smokers.

I am asking for your support. By sponsoring me, you will enable the organization to continue its many local educational programs, support groups and much needed research into the control and prevetion of lung disease.

Lung disease is the third leading cause of death in America and has a death rate growing faster than that of many other major diseases.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal and allow millions to breath easier every day, and I promise I won't smoke over the course of the Trek ;-)

Thank you!

Gary Healy

MADISON FEIS closes Friday, May 9, 2008

Dear MHoB Families;

In light that our school will not be competing at the North American Nationals this year, and that we have a lot of dancers coming off suspension in late May, early June, we would like to organize a feis that the whole school could attend during the summer, and make a school outing, and organize a coach to leave from the studio(s). We would like as many of our students to sign up for the feis, and support our new MHoB students at the first feis.

We have chosen the Madison Feis, 2008, which will take place on June 7, 2008. For additional information, please visit www.madisonfeis.com. Entries are now being accepted through www.feisworx.com. Please sign up as soon as possible.

We need your help, please.

The Spring Feis has been known as the “Best in the Midwest” mainly because of the Academy's cooperative parents that volunteered their time and efforts in the past. We need to make sure that the standard that has been set in the past, continues into the future.

Therefore, we are asking all families that have registered for the Feis to sign up for at least one shift over the weekend. All other non-participating families are encouraged to help out as well. Volunteers are needed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The volunteer sign-up link is on the MHOB Feis page located on our website. Please complete and a confirmation email will be sent in return from the Volunteer Coordinator.

Also, if you wish to take an ad or wish your dancer luck in the MHOB program book- the forms can be found on the web site as well.

Your support and cooperation is appreciated.

Thank you,

The MHOB Teaching Staff

From looking at the competitor list for the upcoming MHoB Feis, I see a number of competitive dancers are still not entered for this Feis. I know that many of you were on teams for the Worlds and were quite busy with that, but please don't delay any further and submit your entry for the Feis this week.

Also, for our new dancers and beginners - the MHoB Booster Club and assistant teachers will be available to help you before the Feis and on the day of the Feis - so that it is a pleasant experience for you and your dancer. All First Feis dancers will receive medals, so we encourage you to take advantage of our Feis and enter your dancer today.

All registration can be done through www.efeis.com .

Dear Mary Alice,

First of all, I hope I am sending this message to the right person. Mariana Gutierrez (Hanover Township) has recommended some of your students for an exhibition dance at our International Family Fest event which will take place May 9th at the Ridge Circle School. We want to raise funds for school materials and have planned for some 12 countries to be represented. We have a dance school whose students will present some Traditional Mexican Folkloric dances and a Musical Ensemble who will play some beautiful music tradtional in Spain. We would love to have Ireland and Scotland represented not only in food, arts and crafts, but also in music and dance. I was told that you presented exhibitional dances as well. Please let me know if this is possible.

Thank you,
