Not at all! I started dancing a little over a year ago, right before my 17th birthday. I dance in my school's adult class, but I compete 15 and over, Advanced Beginner/Novice. I think it's better for me to have started later in life (well...most of the time...until I look at the 11 year old champions...sigh) because I have more coordination now than when I was 6, and I'm a lot more willing to practice and be patient. Go for it!

I'd wait till I was 18 and dance as an adult. However, in order to do this you CANNOT start lessons until you are 18. If this is too hard its ok to start before then. Dancing as an Adult in competion with 16 & overs might be ok now but when you get a little older I think you generally want to be with the more mature crowd. This is just my opinion. I know people who prefer the competition of younger dancers but then again adults are a little more mature and its easier to place as an adult.
