i'm an open champ dancer and will be attending college soon (not this coming year)
i'm not sure where i'm going yet but if i decide not to stay local, i will continue dance- my question is if i am out of region and switch schools, do you wait the 6 month probation and miss the oireachtas? and if you do compete in the oireachtas with a new school, do you attend the one that the school is registered in or the one in which you are from?

I could be mistaken, but I think if you move out of the jurisdiction of your school then you do not have to wait the probationary period. I'm not sure how far it is, but definatly out of state if your school does not have a presence there. (Anyone want to correct me on this?) Talk to your teacher ahead of time, they can probably recomend a new teacher and help you with all the legalities of switching, etc. Good luck! -- Sno, 10:17:00 07/15/03 Tue
As far as i know, if you switch teachers at all, you need to go on the 6 month probation. i switched teachers with in my state and i had to wait to compete. also you would compete in the new teachers oireachtas whatever region that is.
i hope that helps
