I'm sorry to hear about your accident, something like that can be very tense situation. The worse thing is the head trip it plays on your head if you let the fear get to you. Just reassure her that it wasn't her fault and that perhaps the fact that she was driving is the reason your both are alive.
But even if she wasn't driving, feeling guilty for something that wasn't her fault is natural, and this is where most folks go into the "what if; zone".

The most important thing is the fact that your both going to be fine, just don't let this be a major fear factor that will hold you back.

I'm glad to hear your both both safe now, just make sure your take care of your bruises.
I'll tell ya a secrete of mine for quick healing for any swelling whether it's muscles or swollen eyes. The results are the same and it's something that has been used for thousands of years (really).
Dead Sea Salts: In a warm bucket or bath ( I've converted a hot tub out on my deck into a saltwater tub, using ONLY Dead Sea salts.)
Soak in it, use a towel soaked in it if you can't soak in itl; what ever you do don't drink it. It is used for topical use only.
It's healing properties comes in the natural high minerals it has. I'd do it before going to bed, you see it's also very, very high in natural lithium. So ya sleep like a baby. (or the dead, either way, your out like a light).
It has been used for thousands of years, not something you often hear about, but it works.
