I'm currently in the middle of 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man', and it's (obviously) wonderful. 'Ulysses' is next.

I have 'Life of Pi', but haven't started it yet; glad to get some feedback.

I really liked 'Velocity' - I thought that perhaps 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' was better, but I enjoyed 'Velocity' much more.

Andy, it seems that everyone here is a Harry Potter fan, so I'll have to include those.

A couple books I've really enjoyed recently are 'David Copperfield' (Dickens) and 'Middlesex' (Jeffrey Eugenides).

>Try As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann. It's a dark, disturbing book, one of the major characters of which is a real Man of Wrath (not like Sam Weller's father) who, as appalling as he can be, arouses sympathy.
