I've always thought Berton Averre was one of the most talented guitarists in rock, deserving his due right there with legends like Santana, Clapton, Page, etc.
He can tear up a guitar neck with the best of 'em, yet can make his style fit both the light, bouncy pop tunes as well as the hard rockers. Just wondering what other thought might be Berton's best solos. Here are my top five.
1) Africa _ Incredibly fast and so clean. I can't even move my fingers this fast trying to emulate it on air guitar.
2) Down with the Blonde _ Bluesy first solo is awesome, with a Zeppelin like finish in part two.
3) My Sharona _ Still kicking nearly 30 years later. Nuff said.
4) Love is All There Is _ Beautifully melodic solo here. Fits the song perfectly.
5) Havin' a Rave Up _ My favorite on the second album. No wonder it's the Knack's show closer.
Honorable mention _ Won't Let Go; Seven Days of Heaven; Frustrated; She's so Selfish
