I'm not sure that "getting our panties in a bunch" over black activist groups is a fair response. I don't know anybody who really sits on the fence when it comes to Farrakhan's or the Black Panthers' groups. That, together with the fact that Michael Jackson is possibly the whitest black man I've ever seen, makes the situation strange. I've never known of these groups getting involved with him before (they may have, but I've not heard that).
You may not like this opinion, but I firmly believe that Jackson's superstar status is what compells these activist groups to get involved. It gives them lots of face time and publicity on TV. And I'm sure you've heard the old jingle: "Hitch your wagon to a star, keep your seat and there you are".
Jackson is a strange man with strange ideas, but he has never been militant. To now surround himself with militant groups cannot be doing him any good. If they had any input in his attitude toward the Court or his ridiculous behavior outside the courthouse, then IMO he is listening to the wrong folks. His total disregard is liable to net him a 20 year prison sentence.
