As mentioned before, tonight is the night. If everything goes well, Freddy will have a signed contract with the city and planning for the Grand Re-Opening will start immediately. My question is, what kind of classes would you all like to see? Freddy seems to have a pretty good grasp on heads-up racing, but I am sure he wouldn't mind some ideas or feedback.
I would like to see a 255/60-15 class for street cars and maybe a 275/60-15 Xtreme Class for the race cars. Or how about a 26x10.5 class? As we saw in the past, the guy with the biggest tires and engine usually won the race. Let's see if we can even up the field by limiting tire sizes? I am sure the race fans would love it and it would make for some badass racing. Start throwing some ideas around and lets see what we can come up with.
If anyone wants to attend the meeting tonight, it is open to the public and it usually starts at 6:00PM. The race track discussion will be held behind closed doors. But the city administrators will still have to vote in front of the public on whether to continue negotiating or finalize everything. At this point, it's no longer about Julio -vs- Freddy. It is about whether or not we keep a racetrack operating in the Rio Grande Valley.
I want to encourage you, if you have time tonight, go to the City Hall, located on University Dr, about a block West of the Courthouse and show your support for our local racetrack. Would be cool if we could get a bunch of people out there to show the city that we do care about racing and we do want our racetrack back!!!....

[> Subject: The city was making under $10K from Julio. Now Freddy has revised from $5K to $1.5K per month. Why would the city even screw with a race track for only $18,000 a year. That track is like a pimple on your ass. Nothing but a pain you want to get rid of.
