Subject: worship the guru at your peril

Yes we would be lost without the advice of those who have trodden the way,but it is ultimately God we are searching for and God who accepts responsibility for His creation. It is probably the biggest stumbling block to spiritual progress in the Hindu tradition to worship the guru. The central message of the Upanishads and the great Rishis who expounded them is that the Divine dwells in everyone and everything that exists.
How is worshipping Yogananda or any other guru going to help us?The results of such ignorant action stares us in our faces all the time,as soon as we are confronted with the humanity of our gurus we go into denial and pathetically accuse the questioner of blasphemy. Our gurus are our friends who may help us along the way but they cannot take responsibility for us.Worshipping gurus is a dead end practice, futile idolatry.
