Are you speaking possibly about Sri Rama Yogi? He was also known as Yogi Ramaiah, mentioned in A Search in Secret India by Paul Brunton, a disciple of Ramana Maharshi, and the saint Yogananda met of whom he said if he'd spoken longer with he wouldn't have left India?
