When asked why a physical guru is necessary Roy told a friend "to give a kick in the 'Buttocks' when it is needed". The main thing this guru would do is give the inititiation as well as maintain some semblance of contact for the purpose of guiding. He will know your history. This is hard to get in SRF though you get the diksha.

My own view is that when you start getting pratyahara you need some help in the flesh or its very scary--worse than going to the moon I think. Wether Roy gives it is up for debate.

I know a person that demanded Anandamoy show the breathless state and he declined. This accusation means nothing.

I don't know about the wives--but that doesnt mean a bad thing either.
