The initiation fees is still five rupees in most places.

We might get an idea what five rupees might be worth by finding out cost of commodities in those days.

It is mentioned in Purana Purusha book by Asoke Chatterjee (on page 301) that he paid Rs 2.50 for six seers of Sandesh (a bengali sweet.)

I think one seer is one Kg so cost of 12 kg of Sandesh can be taken as a equivalent of five rupees today. Brinda can help us with latest price of Sandesh in Kolkotta right now.

I don't think five rupees must have been a huge amount in those days because the Yogiraj had disciples from all walks of life.
