Subject: Churning the mind

I read with interest many of the posts talking about the nature of experience, the different inner sounds and what they mean.

I have been practicing Kriya deeply for a number of years but have also received Dhyana initiation by a living guru. It is interesting that while practicing Kriya techniques I might hear something or I might not, there may be light or there may not etc. At the time I wondered about my 'advancement' which at times seemed greater than others.

What my guru has reminded me is I think beneficial for all PY Kriyabans - every single experience is a manifestation of the mind - full stop. It does not matter one little bit what experience one has during meditation. He reminds that often God will grant the Sadhak certain experiences to help them to focus more deeply. One must accept these humbly, without divulging them, and actually exercise more detachment not to become further carried away by the impermanent illusion.

What is important is the Paravastha state above all else, whether in normal meditation or in Kriya. It is the experience of identifying yourself with formlessness, stillness and silence - everything that the mind is not.

I have found that the true yardstick for advancement in yoga is the ability to experience greater and greater peace throughout all daily living and thereby initiating others into yoga (subliminally) by mere presence - if that makes sense.

I just wanted to share with many who seem to worry, that the nature of experience is unimportant as long as it takes you beyond. The ultimate truth is not within sound or light it is beyond.

love
Sanjaya
