I have read all the CrossandLotus and they are very good and explain most things. I encourage all to read them.

Mother got 8 days of nirvikalpa in 1954 when Rajasi told her to travel around the USA visiting SRF centers. She said in 54 Yogananda's love in SRF was already on the decline and the centers were using the readings now used instead of spontaneous sermons by center leaders. Evidently she wept for 2 hours about it. She got an 8 day nirvikalpa samadhi on this trip.

SRF condemned her in and around 1958 or so--perhaps when she started associating with Ramdas.

In my view you are entitled to guruship when you get nirvikalpa---and not necessarily when it is permanent. This is in chapter 18 of gita.

Then we have Ramdas approving her mission and if there was ever a master on par with Yogananda in measure of respect it is he.

Regardless of the 2 above factors her wisdom about advanced states on the path is enough to convince me.

Mother said she attained permanent or sahaj nirvikalpa in early 70's. Seems she began teaching in a significant way only then>

I add mother Hamilton to the Roy Davis category of those that had their own valid work. Oliver Black may also fall into that category.
